I finished the first draft!!
I actually FINISHED IT!
A plot. I have a plot. Now, I need to read and polish it up and clean it up but HOLY CRAP, I finished it!!!
GUYS!
*swoons*

It clocks in at 64087 words.
If anyone else is feeling like you need a bit of motivation, this advice from Nora Roberts kicked my butt into high gear:
"Someone asked me once, in a Q&A what three pieces of advice I had for other writers. Here they are:
Stop making excuses and write.
Stop whining and write.
Stop fucking around and write."
There’s no secret, no formula, no magic spell.
It’s called writing, regularly, consistently, daily. It’s discipline and drive and desire. The three Ds I also tout when asked. Talent’s great, but without the three Ds, it’s hard to produce."

I am off to have a HUGE glass of wine. :)
And Carole, you know I wouldn't have been able to get here without you. You rock.
Aw Alexis, you just made me cry. You are so sweet and talented. You didn't need me. You just had to find your voice.
BTW 64087 is a great amount of words. I can't wait to read it!

Booyah! Good luck, Dale!

That was Alexis. I was just congratulating her. ;-)"
Well, then...congratulations to Alexis. My mistake!! Ted
Not sure if it's our new Facebook page-(Indie Author's Collective) but I sold 53 paperbacks yesterday ( All my culture and history books- with no advertising on other sites). That's a good day.
Please post your books, share the others with your social media, and I will share yours on my social media and other sites. I want to add, that my combined pages add up to a lot of followers. You are missing a free opportunity!
If you can't make an ad- Put a link to your best review with the cover.

It's all about the time. It's hard when you've got so much going on in your life. I know.(sigh). It's like squeezing ten pounds of crap into a one-pound bag.

I try to start days with making sure that each minute counts. I am very strict with that. My writing slots are very precious.
However - interruptions! Interruptions are the bane of many people's lives, so I insert 15 minutes each morning for interruptions, which inevitably turn out to be 45 minutes. Sigh.
This response is written in tea break time!

Or just Harry himself. Funny you should mention that. Here's a snippet from Weasel Words, which I hope to release later this year:
"Bernard ... sauntered across the room, pretending to admire the portraits on the walls and the chandeliers on the ceiling and the ornate walnut crown molding at the junction of the two. Cameras looked down upon the pine marten from everywhere, their lines of sight converging from a dozen different angles, leaving no way to block the adorable monstrosity from their view short of using an invisibility cloak like the one that English wizard kid owned. Bernard briefly considered how useful it would be to own an invisibility cloak. Or better still, to own an English wizard kid. Imagine the conversation at Fitzroy Fortresses as its experts looped recordings of a chunk of sterling silver levitating out the door."
Great minds, and all that. ;-)

I was thinking of trying to create a story that is sort of Harry Potter except that Harry has no ma..."
Thank you! And yes, that could be interesting . . .

I just wanted to let everyone know that a few days ago my 5th poetry book was released. It is called, Is There Hope For A Broken Humanity?
Available here if interested in purchasing. smarturl.it/Hockaday5

Mind you, I'd mostly use mine to get extra sleep, lol."
Ha! Me too. There's not enough hours in the day.

If only. I'm lucky to get to sleep by 3am, .and frequently later. Hopefully that will change when I get my new bed."
Speaking of beds, Alex- Matt's new bed has arrived-with a damaged headboard which will be replaced next month. I have given up being disappointed or even surprised with the number of times things arrive damaged in one way or another.

But YES, we're good to go! Publishing world, here I come. Hear me roar etc etc. :)

Thank you Alex! It's been a while since I had time to read one of your books but I continue to be impressed by your output. Hope everything is going well. :)

Congratulations!

My boss asked for a signed copy which makes me happy I decided to go the Young Adult route instead of erotic romance as I intended LOL

On the subject of books, I finally had the nerve to publish my book, The Weight of Our Souls, in print. I was nervous of doing it, but I did it. It's all thanks to Alex and my family to help me and encouraged me to do print.

Thanks, guys. On another note, The Devil and Dayna Dalton was awarded Best reviewed book on the Feathered Quill. Another win for the Bulwark series!

However, I now know why I slip off being fed with posts. This morning I have nothing at all from Goodreads and I should at least have these 3 new ones since I posted here. But then that word 'spam' came to mind - and there you all were, in my spam folder. Cheek.
