Random stuff - the something good happened thread
It seems that KDP accepted my paperbacks and moved them over from Createspace today. I will now start moving over the rest of my books. ( the illustrated ones).

Thanks, Judy!

Good to hear, Carole! I've already moved mine from Createspace to KDP Paperback. It was a smooth transition. So I was glad about that. I thought it would be a hassle.
Not completely- but it's moving. Two books were kicked back today- ugh. I should be done by Christmas.

That's so wonderful, D.J. I said you were on the right path.
Kay and I have been working hard on the Navigating Indieworld Facebook group to get more readers and authors actively involved. We have seen a consistent increase in members and are having a successful first blogger takeover today! She has been sharing some great blog recommendations for readers and authors as well as giving tips to get your books read by bloggers. Good things happening! If anyone is interested in an author or blogger feature day or in sponsoring a giveaway, let Kay or I know. :) https://www.facebook.com/groups/17603...

Exciting :)

It's a great book, DJ"
I hope that will also sell a copy.
Nice one, Eldon!

50k is still longer than Missing Remnants. I like short books. I have the attention span of gnat. (Do they have short attention spans?) My latest book may just scrape into the novel category. If not, it'll be a novella.

I've actually started reading about six books this year. I've finished none of them, not because I couldn't get on with them, purely because I haven't yet justified the time to read them. I'll get there. Oh I lie, I finished your fourth. There. I finished one. Yay.

shared. That title is priceless.

Most recently I was a Guest Blogger for another blogger/author's website. She told me she will post my piece next Saturday. Will share the link when it is up.
I am hoping to eventually land a writing job so hopefully this will be something I can use to help me accomplish my life long dream. I have submitted an application to one online magazine but no word yet. Looking for more job openings dealing with remote writers with the freedom to write on a variety of topics.
FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!!!!!

Not for me, though, I'm plugging on with novels, as I take too long to write them!

Welcome to your weekly round-up from the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi)'s self-publishing advice blog. See below for news, views and advice, freely brought to the indie author community by the ALLi blog each day.
I also wanted to let you know about a fundraiser for a cause that's dear to my heart. Here in the UK, government cutbacks are closing libraries against the will of local communities. My local library was saved, against all odds, but it now needs to be kitted out and filled with books, and I'm doing a fundraiser: a reading, interview and Q&A with author, Zadie Smith. The event will be recorded and available online and there are two aspects that might be of interest to you.
1) We're running a literary lottery. You could win a full manuscript evaluation and publishing plan from me (value £950) for the cost of a £15 ticket. Further details here.
2) We're running a literary auction on the night in which we'll offer free books and other book-related goodies. If you'd like to promote your wares to an engaged audience of writers and readers, in London and online, send your offer to sarah@ornaross.com.
