I will put something together and email you. Do me a favor, Anita- write me on my email to remind me- Brit is out this week. and has the lists- so I have to wait for her to print and give to me. She'll be back in a week.

I have had four more Amazon pre-orders since I sent my newsletter out yesterday. That's not bad considering Mailchimp advised me that 85% didn't open the email and I should send it again. I'm undecided. I don't want to spam people.

Fingers crossed for all of us!
So, tonight at 7 PM Eastern Standard time, if you find yourself with time on your hands, tune in Navigating Indieworld podcast radio as RL and I interview author, Jason Brick.
I want to say that doing the show with RL has become a highlight of my month- She is a wonderful interviewer! I can't believe we are moving into the second year of doing both this and the magazine.
I believe it's a testimony to all the talented people we have shared our spotlight with.
Help the indie community by spreading the word about the show and magazine. Come write an article. Ask for an interview- then post it everywhere. When you help another indie, you are helping yourself!!!

BookBub are interesting in that as far as I can see, they do not require a certain number of reviews, nor do they insist on a 4+ star rating (like some sites). What they do is actually read and evaluate your submission. This is heartening for those of us who rely on genuine reviews and those who get stuck with some 1* reviews because someone only got as far as page 5 or mistook 1* as being the best rating. I saw one of those on someone else's book last night. Poor soul.

The inference I took was that they are clever business people and, as they have more than enough submissions, they can pick not only well-written books but also decide on which ones will make them the most money. Fair enough - they are running a business not a charity for us poor stuck-in-a-garret authors.
Good luck, Alex.
I just think you should get in Alex. Everything points to bad luck or over subscription being the reasons why you wouldn’t. Everything else is there.

It can’t be anything else at this stage. You have the reviews. Like me you are not crap lol. The only reason for not picking you is too many people.

It looks like you'll stand a good chance, Alex, but I don't want to get your hopes up as you're right - too many others submitting.

I hope the day never comes when I'm forced to give my work away for free. I, like many here, work hard at my craft, and so, I feel the product has worth. If someone isn't even willing to pay 99 cents for a book of short stories and flash fiction, than so be it. I'm not going to lower my standards by giving my writings away.

Some Good News--Yesterday, fourteen authors gathered at the Off The Beaten Path Bookstore, in Lakewood NY, to help the Indie bookstore willing to carry local and Indie authors celebrate Independent Bookstore Day. It was a typical Western NY, cold, windy, rainy --what we call spring around here--day, but we braved it, either inside the store, or outside under tents. I got to meet some writers I didn't know and talk for hours about writing, and books. Didn't sell a single book, but who cares? It was fun.

Hurrah! And Yay! That is so special.
Hurrah! And Yay! That is so special. We await results! Maybe even above average... Even below will be amazing. Well done.
One of the anthologies I had a poem published in has been released this month as I just found out. Because someone saw the poem they invited me to join an exclusive poetry group on Facebook which I happily accepted.

Wow, congrats! I've heard people say they've applied many times before getting accepted.
What's the process (and cost) for getting in there? I've never actually looked. Too many other things occupying my attention in recent months. . .

Excellent news on Google Play. Weren't D2D working on distributing to them?
Excellent news on Google Play. Weren't D2D working on distributing to them?I have (I think) cracked the formatting for the paperback of Missing Remnants and I have ordered a proof copy. It's a short book. I wanted it with a smaller trim so it doesn't appear as a 9x6" pamphlet!
Please cross everything in the hope the thing prints out as it should.
That’s what I did. The font was too big on the PDF and it bumped the number of pages up to beyond 200 which wouldn’t fit the cover. I’d chosen drop capitals which didn’t translate into word when I tried to edit it. I took the D2D graphics and inserted into a KDP template version. I’ve gone with 8x5 and 165 pages. Same trim as the copy of Philip K Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric sheep. Picked it up at the weekend. Can’t remember the last time I read it.

Oh I tried adding them manually. Cured myself of that one. When I uploaded to KDP they were not in the same place as they were on the screen. So they went. I’ll have to see how it looks in the proof copy I’ve never been able to order before. That’s exciting. I’ve got Garamond 11pt. I’m not good at judging what a pages font size is. The kids think the paperback I just bought is a 10pt. I’m hoping 11 will be ok. We’ll see. I can change it if I don’t like it.

And yes, when I create my Kindle editions, they sometimes show up as three lines dropped, sometimes four. The display can be different depending on the device and the magnification...it varies all over the place. I don't care...I like the look.
I just couldn’t get them to line up right this time. Fine on the screen, completely wrong when uploaded. I might try again on a different book. I’m just happy I got the graphics in ok.

I'd have to pay $500 to tell people to come get my book for free?? That promises an extremely poor ROI, financially speaking. Why would I do that? Okay, exposure, I know that, but $500 to get it?
(Reminds me of a joke once told by Irish comedian Dave Allen which ends with the punch line, "Dahling, do you think I'm made of bricks?")

Exposure yes, and the hope that Alex will get sales of the books that come after the free one. But blood-y hell! Even if I was in the running, I have too many financial commitments that would exclude me from such endeavours!

I'd be interested in your list of review sites. My launch date for Au79 is May 5 for the eBook. The first two weeks, I plan to keep the price at 99 cents for any one who would like to review the book.
