Getting To Know You!

Random stuff - the something good happened thread

You are so right, Alex. Sometimes being the caregiver is actually more difficult because you can't do much to help the person you care about with their suffering. That has its own pain and suffering.

Working with medical people can be maddening. They mean well, and know a lot, but don't always do everything well or perfectly. I had to bird-dog my husband's treatment when he had to have open heart surgery a couple years ago, as they tried to prescribe things he did not need. Sometimes the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, and you have to be there to watch and ask and research yourself. Your mom is lucky to have you there to help with that.
My grandpa has been in the hospital and rehab home for 2 months now while they are trying to figure out his seizure meds. The brain is so complex that we don't know everything about it and it requires trial and error in many cases. While it certainly has been difficult on my Gpa, it has been equally if not more hard on my Gma. I have been trying to help when I can, but the near 3 hour drive one way and two little ones makes it difficult. I am glad that the specialist listened to you and I am hoping things level off soon, Alex. I am hoping you get better soon too, Amy.

Kudos to you. Congratulations!!!

I now have 7 stories ready for my sequel and need the final third for my first novella

Congratulations!

Please clap and share. Thanks.

My picture, together with the other jammers is on the front page for singing and playing in the Guitar Jam. "Singing from the Heart" is the title..."sharing a love for music"...
Oh, well, for now I'll settle for that!

Well that's very cool!
I went direct with Kobo a few days ago (took it off Draft2Digital) and sales are booming over there. Canada and Africa selling the most. Kobo is the leader outside of the US, so it was what convinced me to try it. If anyone is already wide, consider going direct with kobo and see how and if things change for you.

thanks, Erica, it's something, better than nothing!
Alex I uploaded the d2d ePub files since they create them and give them to you free regardless of if you use their service. And yes going direct worked like a charm. Unlike Amazon, they have built in promotions that cost from 0.00-10.00 where they take an additional 10% for the zero dollar option or whatever option you choose, it just depends and they have a TON of awesome promos for your books.
It puts your book on the front page no algorithm wizardry needed and you don’t have to play a cat and mouse game for visibility. The book has made more money in 3 days there than it has on Amazon for an entire month. Just play with your options. Your already wide, so there’s nothing to lose either way.

It was! Linda Marie Frank is the interviewer. She and her professional staff put you right at ease.

. . . which I had to click on to find out what that meant. It says, and I quote:
This customer is a member of Amazon Vine™ Voice , an invitation only program that gives Amazon reviewers advance access to not-yet-released products for the purpose of writing reviews. A review written as part of the Vine™ Voice program always includes this label: "Amazon Vine™ Review" on the initial product detail page and "Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program" when viewing the entire review. This is a permanent badge.
I don't think I know this person--Laurie Jenkins--from anywhere (although sometimes my memory slips a cog, so apologies if I do). Either way, it's got to be a Good Thing to have that kind of reviewer speaking so highly of your work!

Thank you!

You welcome, Alex! Anything I can do to help my fellow indies. Hope it helps!

Great read, Alex.

Good to hear, Alex!

Thanks for your help!

I'm pleased to announce that Sainsbury's managed to deliver the shopping this morning.
Even better than that, I've just hit publish on the last three chapters of Iridessian Haunts on Radish Fiction. In three months I can publish it everywhere else. I might want a new title. Annoyingly, it took me ages to come up with that one. I need something that describes a planet fighting back against human habitation...

Yes Alex, I'm going to be relieved to be finished with Radish. I had high hopes, but I can't complete with people from Wattpad who have a built in following, they just don't put you in their collections unless you're already successful. And the majority of the books in the top 12 of each genre are free.

Hi, Alex, I read and clapped; my husband had a mild stroke, and he has never been the same since..
