Thanks Carole! I have been sharing it on Facebook and Twitter too. Still need to get it up on my webpage. Hopefully it is getting a lot of hits. :)

Try again: Long time thread reader, first time commenter.
For today I have good news. Having connected with author Tommy Clark through a Goodreads discussion group, we have been working on the cover for his new book Cataclysm. And it launched today...

As someone trying to actively participate in these sorts of groups (although I definitely could do better), it's great when the connections we make here turn into positive collaborations. And paying ones at that!

Thanks Alex and Erica. Much appreciated. We went through a number of versions before arriving at this combination but we were all happy with the end result.

(I'm still annoyed I'm having to give it away. Grrr)

I'm having a smug day (despite face ache from a tooth extraction yesterday, really must get off backside and take painkillers.)
My instafreebie thing is up to 89 downloads. I had no figure in mind to be honest, but I'm sure if I had it might have been down nearer 10! Thank you to everyone who retweeted my endless tweets. (Which reminds me I don't think I've done one today because...)
Having had my work read by whoever is in charge of such things over there, I have been invited to become an author for Radish Fiction. (App based serialised fiction, released on a weekly basis-I can manage that!) My author account has been approved and I have started uploading chapters of Modified, which will be set to free in order to hopefully build an audience of unsuspecting people who will read, possibly get to the end and say "wtf was that I just read?" Then with any luck they may think "you're joking, she wrote another one" and pay for Nate and Day.
It's a plan of sorts. (Where are my drugs??? Pain...)

Congratulations! Serialised fiction was good news for Charles Dickens back in the day, and I hope it goes well for you. Possibly slightly different subject matter mind you...

Fantastic Alex!

Well done Alex. I hope it all works out well and you can get sorted.

Rufus Builds a Nest by Theodore Jerome Cohen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
"This book tackles a tough problem many families and dogs might and do face — the dog needs a new home and family. This does happen in real life as I am sure you are aware. In the story about Rufus, the older man begins to face the fact he can no longer appropriately care for his dog. He forgets to feed it, and forgets it is outside in the cold. Realizing the dog needs a new family and that he requires fewer responsibilities, he makes some decisions. He meets a family that does fall in love with the dog and takes it home.
"It is a sad story line but carefully composed in rhyme and very young children might not fully understand the situation. They know dogs get adopted which is a happy thought in their minds. Primary age children will probably “get the drift” but be able to understand without becoming upset. It is sad for all of us when older relatives face such difficulties. This book can be helpful to families in several life situations."

The review contains superb dog writing and activity pages:

Thanks. She does a wonderful job on the activity worksheets to help teachers and parents...lots of work goes into those.

Thanks. This is a wonderful site. I'm so happy to have discovered it.
Wow Alex, keep up the good work! There are a lot people on vacation over here in the US so sales are probably down from that. School will start again in a few weeks though which will bring people back to normal routines. Continued luck!
I agree, people are distracted during the summer. It should pick up again in the fall. I advertised heavily for the summer and I think it might have been a mistake. I think I should do my push in September- Oh well, live and learn.
BTW, that sheet I had with so many of your books for mass distribution. I printed another 200 and sent them out with my latest book Oh Susannah: Things that Go Bump- I have a list of about 200 Mommy Bloggers that I send review copies.- They may look at it, or may not- but hey, you never know.

Wow, Carole! Thank you! :)
Wow, Carole! Thank you! :)
Had a local artists and authors event today at my hometown library. We had a great turn out and I moved a fair amount of books! AWESOME DAY!!!!

thank you for doing this, Carole

that's fantastic, Erica!

Keep up the good work!
Good news today for the Navigating Indieworld crew- Radio BBS loved our May program so much they sent it to Itunes. Turns out Itunes thought it was a great show and they are airing it. Special thanks to Sarah Noffke- our first guest, talented writer, and great friend!!
Keep us posted on the stats and how the books are doing on Radish. I am curious how the books will do up there.

I forgot to mention a few good things. I got my book up for preorder!
Whiskey-Eyed Woman:
Final book in the series, so it's bittersweet. It's sitting with my editor now and I'm doing a cover reveal late next week. I'll let you all know how that goes, since I'm doing it through Xpresso again. (It seems similar to a Book Blitz, but less than half the price, so fingers crossed!)
While that book is with the editor, I'm 5.5k into the next series. I'm really loving writing in a different world and a slightly different style. I feel reenergised again, since Whiskey-Eyed Woman turned into a bit of a slog towards the end. It's nice to get my passion for writing back, however temporarily.
I also got the covers done for this new series (before I even wrote it!) and they look AMAZING. I'm so excited to share them with everyone when the time comes.
It's almost my 'One Year as a Published Author' anniversary coming up on August 4th, so I'm very excited about that. I've paid for a terrifying amount of promo for a sale on Station Alpha, so we'll see how that goes. I have heard that you shouldn't start seriously marketing until you have 5 books out, and that's me now. So I hope this isn't a giant waste of money! I'll find out, I guess. :D
Anyway, it's all happening in my world! The Romance Writer's of Australia conference happens in a few weeks so I'll be flying for that, which will be heaps of fun. I'm going to try my darndest to get this first draft out by then!
Rocket-Bye was featured today on Indiereader!! can you give it some love??

Wow! I am really impressed, Carole.

I've uploaded Nate and Day and it'll be freemium. I'm still not overly clear on how that works, do I release the three chapters now and schedule the ones that they have the option of paying early for? I don't know. I'll probably do that.
