Liz (liz_the_librarian) Number one on my list for this week is the final installment of The Mortal Instruments series. City of Heavenly Fire hit the shelves last week, and I just had to know how Clary and Jace's story ends.

I also want to finish The Daughter of Smoke and Bone series with Dreams of Gods and Monsters. I was surprised at how much I've enjoyed the series. A mysterious young woman leads an unusual life in Prague. An artist with natural blue hair, she draws life-like images of monsters, who she claims are real and exist in another world. As an errand-girl for these monsters, her life takes a turn for the worse when angels show up to burn all of the portals to this other world. She quickly finds herself involved in a centuries-old war between the angels and the chimaera she has grown up with.

What is everyone reading this week?

I just started Murder is Binding, A Booktown Mystery. I love cozy mysteries and I am enjoying the series so far.

I hope to finish Talk Like TED: The 9 Public-Speaking Secrets of the World's Top Minds as my non-fiction selection for the month.

I am also reading Dreams of Gods and Monsters this week. It is fantastic!

Julie | 130 comments I'm about 60% through One Realm Beyond.

I don't know what to choose for the June challenge, and I need to pick up the pace a bit. I suppose I'll have to start listening to another audio book. I've gotten out of that habit and it helps me read more books for certain!

message 6: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey I'm still working through Rebecca, and I can't wait to see how it wraps up! I'm also about halfway through Delicious! and The Martian will be up next.

I love listening to audio books too. I have definitely gotten out of the habit since the CD player in my car broke.

Kyra Hay | 41 comments I'm curious, How does everyone listen to audiobooks? Do you guys use a cord to connect your kindle/phone to your car radio or rent CD's from the library?

message 9: by Donna (new)

Donna (donnajdoak) | 27 comments Ok I've been MIA or the last couple weeks...vacation, finishing up homeschool with my three kiddos...just busy, busy...but I'm back on track and am about 1/3 of the way through The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry. I had no recollection of reserving this book at the library. I got the email saying it was available and seriously didn't remember reserving the book nor anything at all about it. I decided to not read the jacket and just dig in. So far it's really clever. I've laughed out loud several times. Just the book to get me back into the 52 book challenge mode!

I listen to audio books in a variety of ways. I sometimes get bundle deals online so I download them to my ipod or phone and listen that way (I have a cord in my car that my ipod will plug into also). OR I'll get the audio CDs or playaways from the library. I still haven't tried the downloadable audio books from the library online yet, but I at least know they are available.

The CD player in my car just broke as well! Thankfully my radio still works, and when I want to listen to books my AUX plug still works for my ipod.

Liz (liz_the_librarian) I listen to a TON of audiobooks. I just use the AUX cable from my Android cell phone or iPad in my car. Sometimes, I'll listen on CD, but I much prefer just having the electronic version keep playing without having to switch CDs. All new cars these days, either have an AUX or USB input. If your car doesn't, there are adapters for nearly every type of car stereo.

I listen several ways, I have one or two downloaded on my phone or Zune (from Audible and Library's Overdrive) I check out the disc's or play aways if they are not available on download, and a few times I have set my Kindle to read to me (love that feature).

Angela Malerman (angelamal) | 41 comments So this week I am late in posting...

I finished Nil (what a great book), Dorothy Must Die, Dear Killer, I also reviewed 10 Childrens books for the intermediate school library. I am now reading While We Run (the second book of When We Wake). I did a random book grab this week so I will have to see what else is in the bag...

Liz (liz_the_librarian) I finished City of Heavenly Fire and Night Shift this week. I have to say, King's short stories are pretty incredible. This is my first time reading any of his short stories. His writing really puts you in the middle of the story, and considering the subject matter, it's quite creepy.

I'm also just about done with Homeland, Cory Doctorow's sequel to Little Brother. It's also very creepy, but in an entirely different way. King's work falls into that horror category where monsters, ghosts or psycho killers creep around in the darkness. Doctorow's horror is more realistic. In fact, it's reality. We live in a world where constant surveillance is the norm, where we willingly give up our right to privacy because we're taught it's our patriotic duty. I'm on the edge of my seat, waiting to see how the book ends, but considering the parallels to the world we live in now, I'm not so sure it can have a happy ending.

Ingrid Hurst (bookrdr) | 285 comments Busy here with school and activities coming to a close so I wanted to read some mindless books to take my mind off everything. I picked some Maya Banks books & boy was than an education. I had no idea. Now I am back to traditional books so for the June challenge I am reading Shutter Island. I loved the movie with Leonardo Decaprio and thought it was just a screenplay. I was super excited to see it on the library shelves!

message 17: by Lanette (new)

Lanette (prvrbs31gal) I just started "Land Girls" which I picked up at the thrift store... since I am obsessed with the BBC "Farm" series, I was very excited to dig in to it! When that's done, I'm going to tackle "The Bees" which is a new release that called to me off the library shelf on Friday afternoon!
