Synopsis: The Waiting Game (American Gypsy #2)

Twenty-five-year-old Tommy Costello has been going out on the road with his best friend Jim Reilly since they were kids. They've pulled cons together, picked up dates together, and have always had each other's back. They're as close as brothers, and Tommy's sure their bond will never be broken.

That is, until Maggie Downey shows up. She's an enigma: smart, bold, and charming. From the moment they meet, sparks fly. But there's a huge problem. She's arranged to be married to Jim.

Tommy tries to keep his feelings for Maggie in check, but it's not easy, especially when he's also hiding a dark secret for his best friend. Jim is gay, and that reality will not only make him an outcast among the Travelers, but could mean a life of misery for Maggie as well. Tommy does his best to protect both his friendship and his own heart, but it's soon clear that falling in love with his best friend's wife is the least dangerous thing happening in the Village.

The Waiting Game is a prequel to The Long Game, and the second book in J.L. Fynn’s American Gypsy series.

Synopsis: The Short Game (American Gypsy #1.5)

Jimmy Boy Reilly should be out on the road like the rest of his Irish-American Gypsy clan, but instead he’s stuck at home. His little brother Shay is up north pulling a long con, something Jimmy never wanted him involved in, and now all he can do is worry and wait.

But Shay isn’t the only thing on his mind this summer. He can’t seem to shake the image of the cute store clerk they swindled a few weeks back, and it’s really starting to get to him. When he decides to return the money in an effort to get her out of his mind, that small act of redemption soon turns into a date, and maybe something more.

Jimmy Boy never had any intention of falling for the country girl, cute or not, but there’s no way he could resist the beautiful, sassy blonde. Now it’s not just the fate of his little brother he’s worried about, but his own too. Hiding the relationship from his clan is hard enough, but keeping the fact that he’s an Irish Traveler from Tracy is even harder--and might cost him more in the end.

Set concurrently to J.L. Fynn’s debut novel The Long Game, The Short Game is a novella exploring what’s happening back at the Traveler Village while Shay is up north. While it could be considered a companion novel to The Long Game, it's a stand-alone story that can be enjoyed even without having read The Long Game.

Kika (geokika) | 227 comments hey guys i'm a bit confused; i don't really know which book i'm supposed to read first. i haven't read neither of the 3 yet and it would be nice to know the sequence. i know that the long game is supposed to be the first but would it be better if i read the waiting game first then the long game and then the short game? thanks!

Rebecca | 15 comments If I had it to do again, I'd read #2, #1, then #1.5.

The author said "The official reading order is Long Game, Short Game, Waiting Game. The Waiting Game is actually a prequel, so some folks like to read that first"

Hope that helps. :)

Sgiova | 246 comments I maybe late and I'm sorry I wanted to include both reviews but I'm really having a hard time getting into the second book and don't want to write a bad review. Here's the review for the first book:

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I hate not to give a review but I'd hate it more to give a bad one. I'm sorry but thank you for the opportunity to read this.
