What is unique about the setting of the book and how does it enhance or take away from the story?

Pearson Martin | 1 comments The setting of the book is unique because they live in an abstract world where there are strict rules and regulations. It enhances the story because it creates a mood of discomfort and wonder. If the citizens in the community break a rule more than two times they are "released" into the outside world and nobody ever hears or sees them again. A pilot accidentally got of course and flew over the community and because of the strict rules he was released or let go. When something happens they have a speaker who talks and is heard by the whole civilization through loudspeakers. "Needless to say, he will be released" ( Lowry, 2). The book is really good so far and I want to read more.
