What specific themes did the author emphasize throughout the novel? What do you think he or she is trying to get across to the reader? How did the author try to do this?

Some specific themes of Cinder are alienation, escape, and isolation, which are all emphasized throughout this novel. She's trying to get across that Cinder is living in isolation because she is different from others and she's afraid that if they found out about her she'd be looked down at even more. Meyers did a beautiful job of portraing these themes throughout the story by how, when Cinder was working at the stands a little girl was coming towards her, and the childs mother drew her away very quickly. Also when she met Kai, she made sure to keep her cyborg foot under the table and out of sight. Meyers also gave little examples throughout the book of Cinder expressing these themes.
Some specific themes could be escape and excluded. The author is trying to say even though your different you should still be able to fit into the world. And would be treated like any other person would be treated. The author was like taking this girl that had a normal life until her family died, and she was taken to a very rude family. They didn't let her do anything. When they found out she was Cyborg and Lunar they didn't let her leave the house and they would make fun of her. They didn't let her go to the ball either, until she got a message from this girl about Princess Selene. So she went to the ball and tried to warn Kai, but instead of getting rewarded she got put up to the death. Then Dr. Erland came in gave her a foot and a hand, and then he wanted to go to Africa. Dr. Erland found out that Cinder was Princess Selene so he wanted her to escape and go to Africa with him. So she did and thats how the story ended. I thought this was a very good book.
