Discuss the narrator and how he got his name and what does it imply about the narrator?

He got his name because people think he was aloof which implies he might think he is better than others but the novel shows this not to be the case.

The Dom might have a reference to his almost becoming a padre because that title can be used in that way too. I actually think he became a Dom Casmurro when he allowed jealousy to eat him up.

Diane  | 2044 comments He got his name after nodding off while an acquaintance was reading to him on the train. The acquaintance was offended by this and gave him this name - and it stuck. Casmurro was in reference to his reserved and reclusive nature. The title Dom was ironic and meant to ascribe aristocratic airs to him.
