The prisoners in the palace by michaela maccoll is a historical book about a Londa princess victoria her journey on becoming queen. The princess had challenges in trying to become queen Elizabeth hasting was an orphan that came to victoria for a job as a lady maids but got the job as the lady's maid. Elizabeth parents dead in a carriage accident they left her no money that's why she went for the job at kensington palace.The hotel that she was staying kept her personal thing that's all she had left of her parents he told her that he will keep are things until he can find the money to pay for her father debts. When shes gets the job she’s then order to spy on the princess and the maids. When she starts she see’s that princess it's not been treated right people was stepping over her like the duchess and sir james. Her plan was gain the princess trust to become her lady in waiting to make sure she becomes queen.
The characterization of elizabeth hasting is that she's hurt and still mourning over the death of her parents. The book starts of with her sitting in the hotel room thinking about her parents thinking about things they use to do together. When she finds the letter from her parents lawyer telling her that her father left her nothing it broke her down into thinking why didn't he leave her anything. She said that because she haves to get a job just to save the items her parents left her. She never work a day in her life changing from having maids to becoming one herself was a huge shift.
The plot of the story is starting to occur when elizabeth found the a boy that lives in the walls he calls himself the inside boy. He been living inside the walls for months and none notice him. He hears all the secrets people say he told her about the last maid that worked there her name was annie none really knows what happened to her. Some people in the palace through that her and sir james had things going on and she crossed him then he got rid of her. The inside boy talks to liza about things that goes on how the princesse really like annie and she felt guilty that she lifted.
I found that the book was written in second person view and first person because first it shows like the conversation and what it was about. The first person because it also shows her journey throughout the book. I don't think I am to the climax of the story but i predict that it will cause more people to come after the princess. I think that the story will go on with the princesse trying to come out of her shell and become a grateful queen. In liza eye her goal is to get enough money to pay of all of her father debt and become a little in waiting for the queen. In her eyes she have to get the princess trust show her she can trust her more than anyone she got her back.
In my opinion i find the book to be very mysterious and funny some of the words are word to explain because the book takes place in London 1893. The book gives me information into the life of the a princess. I'm into the book when the rise in action is coming up when the she finally stands up to people that coming after the throne. If i could ask the authors a question i would ask. Why did you pick princess victoria out of all the princesses what made her special out of all the others.
