I read this one last year with Our Shared Shelf, there they mentioned that Possessing the Secret of Joy and The Temple of My Familiar were considered part of a trilogy with The Color Purple. I haven't read either of those but I will probably get to it at some point.

The Color Purle has won both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award in 1983.
We rarely read books by still living authors. This time we have the luxury of checking out Alice Walker's official website. She is a prolific writer of not just novels but poetry as well, and an activist for social progress and equality.
