Tracey (traceyrb) | 365 comments 1. Can you find any hint of what is to come in the way the author describes events in chapter 1?
2. What do you think of Mike? Why did he cross the creek?
3. What is your impression of Hanging Rock from chapter 3?
4. At the end of chapter 3, why do you think the 3 senior girls leave Edith?
5. After reading chapter 4 and Ben Hussey's report, what do you think has happened to the 3 girls and Miss McCraw?

Rosemarie | 263 comments I like the way the author creates the atmosphere in this book- the heat, the sun, the sleepy afternoon. The three girls left Edith behind because she was slowing them down- which turned out to be lucky for her.

I also felt the author set the scene very well. She has this idyllic picnic alongside deadly wildlife.
