I like the way the author creates the atmosphere in this book- the heat, the sun, the sleepy afternoon. The three girls left Edith behind because she was slowing them down- which turned out to be lucky for her.

I also felt the author set the scene very well. She has this idyllic picnic alongside deadly wildlife.
