Design elements
The line is thin or faded. This gives the story an idealistic realistic perspective of the story and life. The shape is curved edges. This gives the illustrations a natural organic and life-like picture to the story. The texture is a classic sketch feeling.
Media
The drawing is a soft pencil style. This gives the effect of 3D texture to the illustrations in the book.

Time of wonder

The lines in the pictures in the story are horizontal. Provides a scenery that offers curiosity and wonder. The shape in pictures is curving edges and circles. This represents illustrations that are natural, full of life, and endless.
Color
The blues represent calm and serenity in the illustration for the story. The orange represents home and warmth to the reader through the pictures of the story. The yellow is the story starts as warmth and happiness, which then turns to caution later in the story. As the story becomes more intense a tone of black is used to create a dark and scary mood in the story.
The Value and spacing in the story go from light to dark as the story progresses to show how the mood changes in the story.
Media
The media used in the story is gouache. Gouache creates an alternative world or reality for the reader/viewer of the pictures in the story.

These two stories were written by the same author use two unique methods for two very different effects on the readers.
