K (auntiek) | 16 comments I was already listening to this book when I realized it fits the home state category, being set in central Texas in 1900. I enjoyed this slightly less than the first Calpurnia Tate book, but it got better as I kept reading. Although not set in Galveston, Calpurnia's relatives experience the Galveston storm of 1900, and that was an interesting part of the book.

Linda (rlinda19) | 25 comments Kristen are you from Galveston? Our good friends and neighbors here are from Galveston. Last names: Smith and her maiden name is White. haha. Just realized as I wrote it that those are probably too common of names to make a connection.....ha, oh well.
"Howdy pardner, you know any Smiths from Texas?"
"I reckon I do....."

K (auntiek) | 16 comments Linda, I was born in Houston and I lived in Dallas before I moved to Tennessee. But I have visited Galveston. It's a small world, even if it is a big state, so it never hurts to ask. I'm afraid I don't know your friends, however!
