Jim wrote: "let's not beat about the bush, after McMini has been in here, anything we might do will merely look like a futile attempt to tidy up ;-)"Never was a truer word spoke. It's 10:30 And there I am sitting quietly with a glass of eau de vie finish off my knitting when I hear footsteps on the stairs. McMini appears. He has a question he tells me but he can't remember what the question was. He has not slept apart from a brief 5 minutes pretending to be asleep when his father popped a look round the door as he went to bed
I will stay with you until I remember whatI wanted to ask, McMini says. It then takes me twice as long to finish the knitting because we're chatting and rather than start the next sock like I want to I have to go to bed because it is late and he is not going to unless I do. Except we remember that he has to have packed school lunch tomorrow so we go to the kitchen where he asks Alexa to tell him jokes while I make the packed lunch. finally we get to bed ... well ... now.
Bless him. He's such a sweetie. I wouldn't want him to be any other way.

I used to write them all down, these days there isn't always the time.

This weeks features a couple of ways to get your smutty mitts on some free books! https://mtmcguire.co.uk/2018/03/31/ba...

This week, I have been mostly wittering ... next week McMini.https://mtmcguire.co.uk/2018/04/14/gu...
Years ago when my sister and brother in law had a skip dropped at their house, my sister had to practically stand next to it with a board with a nail in it to stop the neighbours filling it with their rubbish. Next time, they made sure to get one with a lockable lid.
MT, I think you are the only person who can start a blog on such a sad note, and end it making us chuckle! I think you were right to post it, it is reality sadly

I do try to include a bit of levity because life is hard and sad already for lots of people.

This weeks is a quick obit to my uncle who died on Saturday.https://mtmcguire.co.uk/2018/04/28/un...
hopefully in a little while, memory will give him back to you as he was, and you'll find that Wimbledon becomes a celebration of him
Some lovely person left a wonderful review of Few Are Chosen on Amazon! Sorry but I just had to share. You know when you are sitting in an airport and the guy next to you starts giggling at the book he is reading? And its so annoying because you cant quite see the title? This is the book. The anti hero, The Pan, is terrific, his search to find the Chosen One before the ultimate baddy Lord Vernon gets his evil hands on her, The Swamp Thing, all go to make a refreshingly funny and well laid out plot.Oh and did I mention the car chase? or the lovely old man, or the drink that hits the spot, especially of the evil ones soldiers? But that would spoil the story for you. Go read it yourself. It only has five stars as Amazon is tight with them.
That's a fabulous review, MT - I hope lots of people read it. Exactly what a humorist needs: people who appreciate her and her unique brand of humor.
Thanks, yes I thought so. Jim what you say about reviewers, my brother in law said the same thing. He said that the levels of articulacy in my reviews is insane. I can only guess that my books appeal to intelligent people and/or other geeks! But I like that they seem to feel that if they found the book funny they have to be funny too. I'm hoping that's a good sign that, at some point, a fan community might be a viable option.
Cheers

I think your BiL is right, and you have a high class readership.
I know I like them :-)
Glad you've taken the weekend to recharge, Mary.I had a bit of deep joy yesterday, spending time with the munchkins.
Especially enjoyed two four year olds completely engrossed in discussing which of the foods they'd 'cooked' in the mud kitchen would be healthiest to feed the baby dolls.
Choclatey cake, it seems.
Interesting post, I think this needs more than 'perhaps', I think it's very accurate. Am glad you have managed to recharge a bit and see things in a different light Perhaps that's all you need to do to be happy; look for the small gifts, be kind to yourself and be kind to others.
Spring is the only time our neighborhood is special, with everything - dogwoods, azaleas, crabapples, cherries - in bloom simultaneously.
Thanks everyone, glad you enjoyed it. Life is tough at the moment, and I'm unbelievably knackered. Still come 14th May I'll be through this busy patch and able to calm down again.Cheers

Nice blog post, glad your uncle's service went well and you got to catch up with family. Chuckled at your childhood story
Cheers thanks for looking before I posted the link. Which I'll post anyway in case anyone else happens along.https://mtmcguire.co.uk/2018/05/12/sa...

Yes to both of you. As I understand it, 'Cocky Brothers' is sort of trademarkable but Cocky on it's own isn't, however annoyingly people piggy back onto your success using your title name as a keyword ... says the woman doing exactly the same thing with the keyword 'gambit'.
'Girl' is used in so many titles.Maybe I can change my title to include it, and trademark it.
They're popular.
That story is hilarious, he must have been torn between hilarious disbelief and rage that he now had two broken windows.
Jud wrote: "That story is hilarious, he must have been torn between hilarious disbelief and rage that he now had two broken windows."Yep. Although I saw him on Sunday and had a giggle about the evil things his daughter and I used to get up to.

Yeh I find it a bit annoying.
Another one that had me in tears, the alzheimers ones always remind me of my grandparents - my nan was one of the ones who withdrew from social life. My granddad had it 'easy', it was sudden and unexpected. You are so right, you miss the person you know and love. Sending hugs, 3 years was hard, I can't imagine 14 years x

Was unaware of that.
That author is a dick.

Apparently someone's tried to copyright 'forever' now. What a bell end!
Have a blog post ready to go for tomorrow, it's here: publishing at 11.30 GMT and 12.30 BST: http://mtmcguire.co.uk/2018/05/26/up/
It's a chirpier one. I didn't have time to do more than one joke. Will have to do the second one next week.
Cheers
