Well, not sure I should have read this today, on the anniversary of my nan's death (although it wasn't the dementia in the end), but it's not as hard as living with this is for you. I was 'lucky' that it was 'only' three years and although my mum said it was Alzheimer's, reading your blogs make me think dementia, we never got aggression, although there were things like not being able to read anymore. Thankfully, as there was no aggression, my mum was able to keep her promise of not putting her in a home, although that also caused some issues after my nan died, but that's a different story. I didn't realise that assets were classed separately, I'm glad of that, or there may have been nothing left for your mum's care. I'm glad that all three of you are agreed on him going into care, especially your mum, it must be so hard for her.

Big hugs to you, and your mum, I hope things get sorted as easily as these things can xx

I suppose if you had been brought up to be a proper old-fashioned gentleman then teaching a budgie to swear at old ladies probably was the ultimate bad behaviour. As is burning comrades bottoms whilst they are in possibly the most vulnerable position possible!

I think farts are hilarious but I still find them mortifying. The kids call them boops (Kathleen was trying to copy Gareth making a fart noise bbrrrrp and just said boop). When they let rip we all have a good belly laugh, Nathan now prepares for it, you can tell by his face that it's coming and then he looks up at you expectantly, awaiting praise for his rumble in the jungle.

Nope. I'm too knackered. I have a cracking theory about the drivers behind the way I, and others like me, voted in the Brexit referendum which is total bollocks but interesting. And also, I think it's time we started looking at the whole Brexit debate with British humour rather than American absolutism.

I try to help. I aim to describe the things I wanted to know, or would have wanted to be warned about. Each person's journey is different but I am sure Dad would have wanted to have the conversation about possible shoutiness and what we did if it happened. It may be that he and Mum did. I don't know, she wouldn't remember any more.

And yeh. I think Dad is in a good place.

I do a voluntary job every week that is writing quizzes for our local pension club. This is intended to fight off dementia. Most of our members agree that we should 'use it or lose it' so they are quite happy to do quizzes in between chatting among themselves. Okay, sometimes they are so busy gasbagging that they forget to do quizzes, but I am always there to help along those who do. We have many successful results so far.

Good going. I'm sure that it helps, myself. At the very least it'll make people feel more in control because they'll feel that they are doing something to help their memory by doing the quiz!
