In the book The Maze Runner by James Dashner, in the beginning of the novel the protagonist, Thomas, is very confused. After being thrown onto a dark elevator, when he arrived to the top, he could not remember anything at all. He doesn’t know where he is or what is going on. As the story progresses through, Thomas starts to gain more and more knowledge on trying to learn about where he is. Later on, things continue to become confusing. He starts to realize that he is part of a game and he says "Whatever the reason, it makes me sick! All of this—the Grievers, the walls moving, the Cliff— they're just elements of a stupid test,”(Dashner 49). Thomas continually tries to figure out how to escape from the maze. feels like he can try and find out the answers and get them out of the maze. The story has a well deserved ending for Thomas. Readers will enjoy reading about Thomas’ struggles because they are very intriguing.
