Robert Cauley | 164 comments MU in pacific discover underground race resembling modern conception of devil. Continuous war MU starship flees as continent is destroyed. Cloven hoofed race flees in starship as well. Change to not too distant future; 21st century an illegal or semi-legal test of a starship goes awry( impact on gravity well of asteroid) and earth ship is flung into the middle of the war between the two ancient earth races and somehow end war or help Mu win.

Andy Love | 2056 comments Sounds like "The Mightiest Machine" by John W. Campbell (see description here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mig...) - goodreads link The Mightiest Machine

This link mentions Mu and cloven hooves for the villains http://www.troynovant.com/Grube/Campb...
