I feel you on this Jess. I got a PS4 for Christmas and now, not in January, in when I decided to finally get into some of my games xD
If you're looking for audiobooks let me recommend Mostly Void, Partially Stars and The Great Glowing Coils of the Universe. They are the scripts for the podcast Welcome to Night Vale - which is AMAZING. There is also a full book called Welcome to Night Vale which I listened to the audio book for, but I think the book is better once you've listened to at least the first 50 episodes of the original podcast

Linking to your book in your comment is also helpful. You can do that by clicking the little add book/author on top of the comment box. This cannot be done on the app.
Thanks!

Let`s all keep up the good work!

Our first mini-challenge is going to start on the 14th! What is it? I have no idea.
But we`re being warned we need to have our spreadsheets as up to date as possible before the challenge starts.
So PLEASE have your book comments updated with everything that you`ve finished by the 12th.

I got a wisdom tooth out this morning so I'm anticipating extra reading in bed the next few days lol.

No apologizes necessary Emma! You're still ahead of me ^_~

I'll add it to my post tomorrow as it's midnight now.
I also started Childhood's End this evening in audiobook form :)

Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Hope it clears up soon.

I have finished reading 2 books, and am currently reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
I will probably have some free time over this weekend. Will be reading MORE.
Ciao!

After the first week, how is everyone doing?
Anyone read something stellar?"
While I haven't been able to read as much as I would like (why can work people not leave me be?) I really enjoyed The Tombs of Atuan. Le Guin's writing is just gorgeous and Earthsea is not to be missed for fantasy lovers of any kind. I love how simple yet rich her worlds are

The February mini-challenge will be posted tomorrow (I got a sneak-peak and it looks really fun!) so be on the lookout for that. The mini-challenges are optional, but that's where we can really gather some points.
Heads-up: only books started after the mini-challenge begins will count towards it. Here is the countdown clock.
All of the normal UNO rules apply. Books can count towards our normal UNO cards as well as a challenge task

READ THESE.
This challenge has two parts, Find your Valentine and Be my Valentine.
❤ Only books read February 14-28 will count for this challenge.
❤ Please note that books started before Feb-14 don't count for this mini-challenge
❤ The countdown to the start of this mini challenge is here
❤ The usual book length requirement for UNO apply
❤ Complete all tasks and your team gets a bonus 30 points
❤ Books used for this mini challenge do not need to be separate books for what you are claiming for your UNO hands
❤ Each book can only count for points in part one or part two.

Our Valentine Team is Team Augustus Waters. You can find their team thread here
As a team:
❤ Read up to five books your valentine team has read this month for 10 points each (their spreadsheet)
❤ Read up to ten books your valentine team has read in Feb or added in Feb of any year for 8 points each
❤ Read up to fifteen books your valentine team has read that was first published in Feb of any year for 5 points each
Bonus
❤ Read one book that was first published on the 14th of February of any year for 10 points
If you find a book that works for any of these tasks comment below and I will add it here. I compared my books to each person on the other team and then searched their books when any title caught my eye to check their add/read dates. (Hope that makes sense)
When claiming please tell me the book as well as which person on team Augustus Waters has read it and when.
More than one person can read the same book.
Progress report - I will cross out books as they are finished.
Read this month by Valentine team MAX 5
Raahil: Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon (read by Emily 2/1/17)
Raahil: Ready Player One (read by Ora 9 Feb 2017)
Bob: A Gathering of Shadows (read by Ora Feb. 21st)
Read/added by Valentine team in Feb of any year MAX 10
Read by Valentine team and was published in Feb of any year MAX 15
Ashlee: The Help (published 2/10/09 and read by Veronica)
bonus MAX 1

Read books that fit these valentine tasks for 5 points each.
Each task can only be completed once. Each book can count for only one task. There are 30 tasks to choose from and you can choose up to 15.
Comment below to claim a challenge. You can claim as many tasks as you reasonably think you will finish by February 28th. I`m using the word claim here loosely as more than one person can claim a task (so Kate and I can move things around later if needed).
❤ Read a book where there is a secret wedding
❤ Read a book where two characters fall in love - The Dark Forest (Jess is currently reading)
❤ Read a book where there is unrequited love
❤ Read a book set in China
❤ Read a book first published on the 7th of any month - Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (Stephanie is currently reading)
❤ Read a book first published in July of any year - The Good Girl (Emma is currently reading)
❤ Read a book where the main character has a pet
❤ Read a book with a 3 in the page count
❤ Read a book where the characters go to a dance
❤ Read a book where there are a group of 3 or more friends
❤ Read a book where a new friendship is made
❤ Read a book set in the Middle Ages (5th to the 15th century)
❤ Read a book with chocolate on the cover
❤ Read a book that contains a Shakespeare quote
❤ Read a book based in Italy - Beautiful Ruins (Raahil is currently reading)
❤ Read a book where a husband gives his wife a present

This is our best chance for points so I hope everyone can grab at least two tasks from either parts of the challenge.
Let me know if you`ve got any questions

Even if someone has already claimed a task please note if you are also reading a book that works for it. For example I claimed
``Read a book by an author who is known to be a friend of another author``, but Bob could also say that he could do that task as well if he read A Gathering of Shadows because Victoria Schwab is known to be friends with Beth Revis. Bob`s book, in this case would also work for ``Read a book with a young man as the main character``
Which brings me to my second point, if your book will work for more than one task, either in part 1 and/or part 2, please note that as well.
Kate and I can literally never have enough information to work with. This will give us the ability to move things around if needed to maximize our points. (Has anyone noticed yet that maybe I`m a little competitive? :-P)
You can claim as many tasks as you reasonably think you will finish by February 28th. We will spread participation as evenly as possible.

The Song of Achilles
works for PART 2 claims
❤ Read a book where there is a first kiss (Patroclus and Achilles)
❤ Read a book where two characters fall in love (Patroclus and Achilles)
❤ Read a book with a young man as the main character (Patroclus)
❤ Read a book where a new friendship is made (Patroclus and Achilles)

I feel bad I can't add more to part 2 right now since I should be reading like 10 books during this mini-challenge to keep on track, but if anything comes up while I'm reading I'll be sure to go back and add it to my mini-challenge post!

The February mini-challenge will be posted tomorrow (I got a sneak-peak and i..."
I just added one book, that I finished last night, before the mini challenge starts

Ready Player One - read by Ora

This is what I have come up with so far:
Part 1:
Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic
(read by Angie this month 1/2/17)
Love, Chocolate, and Beer
(read by Ora 2/19/15)
Saving Grace
(added by Angie 2/1/16)
**I will look for more once I get home from work**
As for part 2...:
I chose several books on my Nook yesterday that were shorter. I think I will just read what I can and comment with the tasks it fits.

Got it!
And yea, just fill in stuff for part 2 as you can. I am a lot less worried about filling in books for that part than I am for the more difficult part 1. Besides, you`ve got 2 8-point books and 1 10-point book already for part 1, so those are def the ones that would be better to read first.
I don`t have anything that will fit part one, so I`ll be able to knock out at least 5 of the part 2 tasks.

Also, please make sure you`re putting books on your UNO shelves

I am one of the co-captains from Team Harry Dresden and I just wanted to say Hi and let Caroline know that we indeed make great Valentine partners.
I found that you added Tailchaser's Song to your TBR list on FEB 02, 2015 and it was on mine as well so I am going to read that next. We actually have quite similar tastes in books so I would love to send you a friend request. 8-)
Happy Reading all and good luck with UNO!
Caly

I went onto the wiki page for the first book in The Dark Forest's trilogy to refresh my memory on names (I read the first one sometime last year) and randomly saw under the "reception" subheading of the page a quote from Obama about the book lol. Go Obama, you read that Chinese sci fi!

Books published in February read by our Valentine team? Books qualifying for card 7? Do we need more I's? How are we feeling?

Then we'll have a clear picture of where we're at.
As far as the regular UNO cards go, it's not so much any particular card we need to read for as it is we just need to get through more books. I think, when I checked yesterday, we needed another 30-35 books to finish all the cards.
For the mini-challenge, those who can read for part one should definitely do so since only some of us even had anything for it.
For part 2, if we reach our UNO goal and read all of the books we need to finish out the cards, then I'd be really surprised if we didn't max out part 2

If everyone's comments are fully updated at the time of this post, that means we have 26 books we need to get through in the next 9 days to completely finish our UNO cards. That sounds like a lot, however remember there are 9 of us. So if everyone reads/finishes 2-3 more books we should be good. That would be optimal, but of course just do what you can. At the rate we are going, and from what I see on people's currently-reading shelves, I think we are going to make it :D
As for the Valentine's challenge. We have finished 1 book for Part 1 and 3 books for part 2. This is our chance for extra points, so PLEASE read any books you can that will fit the challenge. I'm much more concerned with finishing books specifically for Part 1 as Part 2 is open enough that we should be able to fit almost any book into it. We would need another 42 books to finish the challenge completely. Meaning, an additional 16 books on top of what we need to finish our UNO hands. We're probably not going to hit that, but any extra points help our team! (and hey if everyone finishes 3-5 books then we actually just might! )
And this is super important!
PLEASE remember to update your original UNO comment adding in any books you are reading for the mini-challenge. All of those books can count for regular UNO cards as well so we need to know what cards fit them. We will only have 24 hours to finalize the spreadsheet after February ends, so please make sure things are updated.
Thanks!

Kaylee from our Valentine team has read these. There are a few that were originally published in February (The Ersatz Elevator and The Wide Window) which would help with part 1 of the Valentine's Day challenge, if you are still thinking of re-reading them.

My intention had been to leave those until April when we`d need to read 105 for UNO (whereas this month we only needed 91). However, if we`re still really low this weekend I`ll probably get through at least The Wide Window. Thanks for spotting those!
