P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments February 22nd should see the e-book launch of Bittersweet on Smashwords and Aamazon.co.uk and .com.

It will go out for a SPECIAL LAUNCH PRICE OF $1.99. for a week.
The preorders will be sent out for 99 cents.

The print version will have its launch on March 22nd if the publisher gets her act into gear! That's the trouble with being international in Writer's Choice.

BLURB
BITTERSWEET
In the British army of 1872, corrupt young officers play games of a different kind. Their favourite is to rape young society women in their homes. The rogues make a competition out of it. The more girls the regiment savages, the more different ways they do it, the greater their merriment and cheers for the winning regiment.

But the victims go through hell. They can't tell anyone, not even their mothers and suffer the shame. Their families suffer too. Banker Bryce Ackerman loses the love of his life to the scoundrels, but he won't leave it alone. Bryce follows the thugs to India, where two of the marauding regiments are posted. Trying to run the rapists to ground, he learns their treachery is deadly and their evil courage more monstrous than he expected. Along the way, he must confront his own sexuality. Is he a gentleman always, or is he too a predator?

Life in the British Raj in Colonial India heighten all his senses, good and bad, as he chases down the brutal and dark side of manhood, as he tries to bring Justice to places where Justice had been absent.

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments Thank you Carol. I'm having more worries about piracy as a friend has lost a huge number of copies of all her books downloaded for free from pirate sites. like me, she can't afford that to happen.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 166 comments Blimey! That's some blurb, PDR. Wow! Should be a winner.

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments I am really lucky in my Writer's Choice colleagues. One is a gem at getting the main nitty gritty of a book for a blurb, another is a gem at fine tuning. I just sit with open mouth as they put it together for me!

Lesley | 1569 comments It's not up on Amazon for pre-order, p.d.r. Also don't see Bernie's latest up there for kindle either. Is she going to release in kindle do you know?

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments Smashwords have it but Amazon have stuffed up because of the cover. They keep rejecting it. I'm hoping the new attempt will clear it.

Don't know what's happened to Bernie's kindle. It's supposed to have gone for formatting.

Well, I'll just have to be patient! When do you go to hospital and how long will you be in?

message 9: by P.D.R. (new)

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments Hospital op Feb 2nd at 6.45 a.m.
Both hips so probably sent home on Feb 6th or 7th.
Then 12 weeks blobbing out not allowing my hips to move forward or backward in any angle less than 90 degrees. No driving and no bending. Hopefully all goes well. It's a bit hard without family around so I must be very careful and use all the official home help I can get.

I shall certainly get cabin fever being shut in!

Meanwhile Feb 22nd is Bittersweet ebook launch so I will have lots to do to see that all is in place for a PR push in April once the print copies are out. It takes ages organising all the book site newsletters and ads on websites and tweets.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 973 comments Good luck with everything, PDR!

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments Thank you. I need it!

message 12: by Lesley (new)

Lesley | 1569 comments Why is the cover for Bittersweet being rejected by Amazon? I can,t see anything wrong or offensive with it!
Hope the op goes well. I'll be thinking of you.

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments It's techy, Lesley. To do with pixels and frame size. I'm waiting for my tech aids to sort it for me.

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments Covers accepted, orders in.

Anyone want an ARC ebook copy. Two of my usual ARC readers are
not available so I have two free ARC copies. Do remember this is a book my colleagues refused to allow Writer's Choice to publish at first calling it historical porn-!!!!- because they are sensitive souls with regards to rape! I had to rewrite hard and delete and add before I was granted the Quality Fiction logo and the go ahead to publish.

If you too are squeamish don't ask for a copy!

I'm sensitive about rape so I wouldn't be a good choice for this title, but I do hope you will consider me for a future read, PDR.

Good luck! :)

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments With pleasure, Carol. This just had to be written as I was exploring reasons why male attitudes to women and sex are so bad but the next will be easier!

I am the same about all those books about gross serial killers, can't read 'em!

I know. I bought one! :) Hope the sales keep up.

ETA: It's a pity Bernie hasn't got a kindle edition of her's. I'd have bought a copy of that too if she did.

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments You kiwi readers are terrific! Thank you.

Bernie's ebook is getting there. She will insist on doing it herself and not letting me use my IT boffins to do the formatting. She has her print launch party on Monday 13th March so I cannot nag her but will after then.

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments Ah me! I try to put a good 5 star review up from a reviewer and am told I can't put up stuff for my own book. I got reviews up last time!

And someone has just rated the book 3 stars and not put a review so I can't get him for not buying the book which I know he has not!!!!
Sigh!
Now I shall have to go round all my Beta readers and see if they have reviews ready! And I hate nagging!!!!

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments Hurray the Bittersweet print copies are out.

So now I have to chase up the NZ bookshops.

Aren't Cat and Caro, owners of the Lower Hutt bookshop, Writers Plot Readers Read, great they've aasked for copies of Bittersweet.

Now let's see if I can crack the Women's Bookshop in Auckland. I did get to speak to the owner and she did say I could email her with details!

Vicky | 39 comments Congrats PDR and well done. I'm not into 'gang' rape so this one won't be for me, but I hope it goes well for you.
I agree - The Writers Plot Readers Read girls are wonderful and the more we can support them the better.
The Women's Bookshop told me my type of book 'wasn't for them' -
historical fiction, set in NZ, about immigrant woman - despite following the 'rules' about how to approach them and what to do. I've heard she hates Amazon with a vengeance and if you are selling through Amazon, she won't look at your books.

message 25: by P.D.R. (new)

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments Thank you for that info, Vicki. I will make sure to note that Amazon is at the bottom of my distributors' list. She might be so intrigued by my Asian and European ones which she won't have met before. I might also sidetrack her with talk of translations!

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments Fingers crossed for a large group of readers and well wishers on at the launch party on Wednesday April 5th which is a launch of the print copies of Bittersweet. Lots of lovely nibbles and wine and fruit juice but I don't know if that has tempted everyone invited.

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1643 comments Had a riot of a launch for Bittersweet. Still have an ebook copy for review.

And anyone wanting a bargain can get all my ebooks for 99cents from April 19th to 1 am April24th.
