From the beginning, Lucy was pretty secretive. Did you understand her reluctance to keep things close to her vest?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments I understood why she wanted to keep her private business, private. That is anyone's right. Her family, her music, her job, she was a very closed, compartmented person. When someone she had an altercation with turns up dead, she wasn't about to disclose anything she didn't have to.

It was hard to separate my desire to know from the right thing for her to do. I was dying to know her backstory and had to work at being sympathetic to her point of view.

You're right, Anita. It was in her best interests to wait.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments Lucy's unfolding backstory is one of the elements that made this book so good.

Definitely.

CD {Boulder Blvd} (boulderblvd) | 39 comments Some of her secretiveness was OK (especially given the background), but I was on the side that she hid too much for too long.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments Did her withholding her past cause the death of any victims? I don't think so, unlike Clay who withheld vital information and did cause the death of some victims.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I was also curious about her secretive behavior; she didn't seem very close to anyone at the beginning. It did take most of the novel to get most of her story, which was frustrating but OK in the end.

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) I wish some more of her backstory had been revealed a little earlier since she was so secretive. I wanted to understand where she was coming from earlier in the book.

So did I. It was a little frustrating having to wait to find out.
