Leo Tolstoy ''War and Peace''
War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

I was 14 when I read it.

I felt lost and scared, because that summer my mum got very ill, so I looked after her, and had been reading Tolstoy's novel all days long. Finally, my mum recovered, and the book helped me stay calm and supportive.

I think that the magic power of this book is to get you involved into fundamental changes in human lives, and how people survive in new historical circumstances. Bolkonsky, Nikolai Rostov, Pierre, each of them finds their own path to happiness and internal harmony. They ruminate about death, overcome their fears, fall in love and enjoy life.

Tolstoy interrupts his narration and inserts his own philosophical reflections, which at the time of reading, were the most wanted words to hear. Each line is full of strength and faith, and that's what I think helped me to cheer up. I also guess, that this book was helpful, because it gave such a broad perspective, vision, the highest panorama viewpoint of a life cycle I could imagine being a teenager. That allowed me to get distracted from upsetting thoughts.
