June 2014 Group Read: Duma Key
I liked this one too! Interested in what people have to say, it's been a few years. Enjoy everyone! :)
I read this not too long ago and I thought it was great. It was moving along nicely, and then I was surprised that it took a turn down Scary Street. It did leave me sad in the end, like King books often do.
I'm in! That was a quick poll... Didn't even have a chance to vote. This has been sitting in my library for a while though, so looking forward to the read.
It's funny; I bought a used copy of this only last month! It has just gained priority status on my to-read list :)
Love thus book, but listened to it recently so won't be joining in on this one. I'm going to pick up some of the books in the poll, so I'll be here in spirit . Hope you all enjoy this!
Because of a glitch, poll closed early.
Poll is re-opened till midnight tonight.
Sorry for the error

I've requested my copy from the library. Should be in tomorrow!
My copy is waiting for me at the library. Soon as the wife is ready, we'll swing by to pick it up on our way out to dinner. Till then I'm killing time here. :)

Walter, you sound just like my husband.
Walter, you sound just like my husband.
Well, Kathryn, this is a typical conversation:Me: "Are you ready to leave?"
Wife: "Yes, I'm ready to go. I just have to put on my jewelry, then get my phone and my purse."
I do believe we've had many conversations such as that. Usually for me it's putting on my face. He's thankful for ESPN and the NFL Network for such times.
I'm listening to the audio book. I get to listen for about 7 hrs a night at work. The audio book is 21hours long!
Latasha that sounds like a dream job ;) listening to books or reading them at work - awesome!I always daydreamed that I work at a library, surrounded by books lol
oh, I would not say that it's a dream job! but it makes it soo much better being able to sneak and listen to stuff. (view spoiler)

I finished the (audio) book last night. overall, I liked it but not as much as the shining. I felt it was too slow in the beginning. I wouldn't consider myself a Stephen King fan but I'm more open to reading his books now. what's his deal with twins? the only 2 books I've read of his is this one & the shining.
I've read quite a few King books over the years, and I actually can't recall any of them (aside from The Shining and Duma Key) featuring twins. Though I can understand why you might wonder what the fascination is, considering those are the only two books you've read :)Anyway, I'm currently up to chapter 12 and, even though I've enjoyed it so far, it has been rather a slow burner up to now. I can only assume that something utterly terrible is going to happen soon, though.
...Can't wait! Haha :D
Monica, The Talisman was a great book, I thought! Hope you enjoy it :)The sequel, Black House, was just as good (if not better) in my opinion.
I'm about 1/7 of the way in (hard copy for once). I get the feeling the threads have been laid out, and now the story is starting to pull together. He's just (view spoiler)

I must admit that I'm not even noticing the changed words until they are pointed out. But I like the pace so far and am enjoying all of the characters.

I'm with you, I like the way the story is unfolding.

Thanks! :)Hopefully I can get Black House soon, too.
Love this line:"Give me a choice and I'll take A Midsummer Night's Dream over Hamlet every time. Any fool with steady hands and a working set of lungs can build up a house of cards and then blow it down, but it takes a genius to make people laugh."
Here's another quote I enjoyed; “Life is like Friday on a soap opera. It gives you the illusion that everything is going to wrap up, and then the same old shit starts up on Monday.” chapter 8.

What does that mean? (view spoiler)
