Please list the book you intend to read or recommendations for this category.

Amy I'd like to recommend The Forest of Hands and Teeth, Tress, Bell Weather, Pines, and No One is Here Except All of Us.

If those don't work for you, The Guardian has a Top 10 Forest Book List.

Any other recommendations? I'm drawing a blank here on books I'd like to read that take place in the forest (since that list didn't really work for me).

That sounds like an excellent plan. I do love walking, riding, etc. with Bill Bryson.

Amy Oh, and Into the Forest has been on my list for a while. It may be more poignant a read at this point. The end of the synopsis says "Reminiscent of Margaret Atwood's A Handmaid's Tale, Into the Forest is a mesmerizing and thought-provoking novel of hope and despair set in a frighteningly plausible near-future America."

Mackey (mackeylee) I'm going with Child of God. I think the backwoods of KY qualify as forests.

Željko Mihić | 3 comments Already did The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon and it also qualifies as a book under 200 pages so it's a double win. :)

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) I read The Raven King which takes place partially in a magical forest.

message 12: by Teresa (new)

Teresa I read Wolf-Speaker. It's the second of the Immortals series by Tamora Pierce. It's fantasy, with good world building and great female characters. I gave this and the first one 4 stars. (The first wasn't set in a forest).

Sarah Sutton (sarahamsutton) | 21 comments The Forest of Hands and Teeth had been on my to-read list for a while, so I read it for the challenge.

Amy I ended up accidentally reading a book that takes place in the forest: The Grass Harp by Truman Capote The Grass Harp by Truman Capote. I picked it up because I'd read that it's southern gothic, but there's nothing gothic about it. Still, it's full of fun and adorable characters, some of which are a glimpse into his own childhood in Alabama.

Do! It's a great book. Plus, the movie is finally coming out.

Brittany | 16 comments The Stranger in the Woods by Michael Finkel and Beastkeeper by Cat Hellison. both take place at least partially in a forest. though at some point I'll probably reread Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier, so that could count too
