She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb by Wally Lamb

Tamat baca: 8 Januari
Rating: B
Genre: Fiction

Ulasan: Dolores' life changes dramatically after a major incident. From then on, she goes through a lot of obstacles and tries to face these challenges as best as she can. The story follows her days from a young girl to an adult who finally learns to love herself. I can't deny that some parts of these books really made me angry with Dolores' actions and reactions, but all in all, it was an enjoyable read. Good job to Lamb for a great debut novel.

About a Boy by Nick Hornby by Nick Hornby

Tamat baca: 10 Januari
Rating: B
Genre: Fiction

Ulasan: Will is an adult who behaves like a child, while Marcus is a 12-year-old who behaves like an adult. These two meet in the most unlikely of places and thus begins their relationship. I liked the way the two points-of-view are shown when the characters deal with changes and hardship. Some parts were really funny too. Am planing to watch the movie next.

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty by Liane Moriarty

Tamat baca: 14 Januari
Rating: A
Genre: Fiction

Ulasan: Three women with kids in kindergarten strike up a friendship. After a certain incident takes place, it's revealed that these women have secrets and these secrets eventually lead to a murder. Who did what why? I really liked it and would recommend it to all.

The Family Fang by Kevin Wilson by Kevin Wilson

Tamat baca: 18 Januari
Rating: B
Genre: Fiction

Ulasan: Buster and Annie grew up in an artistic albeit unusual world of macabre performance art. Now adults, they find it hard to cope with their everyday world, which is made worse with the disappearance of their parents. I liked it because it was quirky, and funny.

Burial Rites by Hannah Kent by Hannah Kent

Tamat baca: 18 Januari
Rating: A
Genre: Historical Fiction

Ulasan: Agnes is charged with the murder of her master. The story follows her days at an isolated farm awaiting her execution. Did Agnes really kill her master? Set against Iceland's stark landscape in 1829, the story is a harrowing read. Sad but beautiful.
