Feversong SPOILER thread: Beware!!

2. The third request of the kin..."
Thanks :-D
Dancer being DEG and possibly coming back makes it more intriguing, coz Dani probs will be super disappointed in him and there will be drama. But somehow it reminds me of all the crazy theories we had and how in the end he was still just a human. Maybe KMM made all the Fae references (the eyes, his dark secret, the initials) just to confuse us and makes us speculate everything, but the human part.
And Dani wont change unless she dies, right? Maybe that was his safety plan.

Lol, med til

Lol, such a great comment :)

That part cracked me up. Poor Dancer thought he would be turning Dani off to Ryo because he's a beast and she was jealous of all he could do. Then thought now she's older because of what Ryo had said about asking him when she's older. hahaha

Ryodan I still love and believe in - But he has been really off since ICED and I didn't really know what to make of him in this one. But the kiss (as opposed to the one in burned) was hot as fuck because it was Dani not "Jada".
Alina - honestly could've stayed dead.
Jo - could've died 2 books ago if you ask me. What was all the JO love here? Seriously Lor? She was a complete bitch to Mac and Dani but let's pretend they were all BFFS lol.
Mac and Barron's - prayer circle that this is the real end for them. I'm exhausted. Oh and Mac as seelie queen - so lame lol. But I'll accept it as long as it means we are finished lol.
I'm really just happy I don't have to call Dani "Jada" anymore.

I completely agree with you especially about the progression of D and D. Why not just have them start dating in this book, if KMM is writing another book let it progress in that one? it felt really rushed and manipulated.
Another moment that made me LOL was when Mac and Cruce agree to bind themselves in contract style. So everyone is worried because Cruce is so tricky, I mean he has manipulated everyone from the Queen to the UK, so for this contract's preparation you only trust the most brilliant of minds to make sure our main peeps are not getting screwed. So who do you call? Jack Lane. YES! Because Ryodan and Barrons whom have lived 1000s of years need Jack Lane a mere human whom has practiced maybe 40 years of small southern town law for back up. WTF???

I gave the book 3 stars.
First I got to say that I never understood why ryodan had to stay burned for Dani. It was a wasted time, and he had to be killed anyway...he and Dani didn't even meet until about 40 % of the book. Kmm used the burning to keep ryodan away from the story and give the light to Barrons. Come on, all the scenes with Dani and Barrons, when ryodan was healing, should have been with ryodan and Dani.
It's hard to write anything about Dani and ryodan as the book was mostly about Mac and Barrons. I just feel like ryodan reached his peak in iced and has fallen gradually after that. Which takes me over to a weird scene for me; when they kissed, I felt like ryodan was making out with 14-year old Dani. I don't know why it just flipped, but she was acting like a brat in that scene, and all I could see was this kid jumping on him like a little monkey. I was glad the scenes as over and did not happen again. Make Ryodan great again, Kmm. Please!
Regarding Dani's virginity, I don't agree with any of you. It felt right that her first time was with dancer. Losing ones virginity is not a big deal. And most people don't the lose it to someone they love. Dani loved dancer, and she got to have a perfect and sweet experience with him. She wasn't forced or pressed to do anything. And it was not pity sex. Dancer had lived with the decease for 11 years, and nobody knew when he would die. But the world would end and she wanted sex before she died. She chose to have sex with dancer.
Over to Dancer. For four years we have tried to guess what he was, and were surprised with him just being a lousy human. Lol. What a bummer. And I felt like that was just an easy way out for Kmm. Like she just wanted to get rid of him, and made him human and killed him off.
Jo: what was the fucking point with Jo? All the things she has done, said and was starting. And then she was fucking eaten without accomplishing anything but having sex with ryodan and Lor. What a waste.
Lor: if Lor is so smart, then why does he bother Mac for killing Jo? Mac didn't kill Jo, the book did. Mac hade zero control. Lor is a stupid and annoying character . That storyline didn't make any sense to me.
I sometimes think back to me, after reading Iced, how I was obsessed about reading more about dani and ryodan. I was on every forum, counting down days to when burned would be out. I've gotten so disappointed that for fevrsong, I had nearly forgotten that it was being launched until I logged on my GR account and saw all your posts here.
I just don't care anymore.

Unless you have one huge eye covering half your face, then nobody remembers your eye color.

I gave the book 3 stars.
First I got to say that I never understood why ryodan had to stay burned for Dani. It was a wasted time,..."
Dying would have been the smartest move I agree and I think your right - it did feel like a ploy to give Barron's more page time and something to do - when in reality Ryodan could have died and come back and played those same scenes with Dani maybe even progressing their story.
I don't mind at all that Dani lost her Virginity to Dancer, It just felt too out of nowhere for them to be so in love, so fast after the last 2 books with barely any progression for them or Dani with anyone really - it didn't click for me.
None of the Jo stuff ever made sense and I do think she was completely pointless by the end. I think KMM wanted to do SOMETHING with her in her original plans but when she changed direction she really had nowhere to go with her. The Lor "romance" slapped on in The previous books was so random and she was too hated for her death to really hurt as a a reader. Although my god what a brutal ending.
I remember reading ICED and being on KMMS forums waiting for BURNED to come out - before we realized Dani was getting screwed out of her own series and MAC was BACK lol - that was a fun time as a Dani fan. Alot of great discussion and speculation and excitement about what was to come. Little did we know lol.

Also the Shazam scene was so adorable on this re-read! He's so moody i love it!
See I don't agree with you guys. I don't really see Dancer as Dani's soul mate or anything. I see it as her loving someone whose existence meant a lot to her and who 14 year old Dani loved very much. I think she was just embracing Dancer and living out the last of Mega and Dancer's adventures before he died. Like sorta like living out a bit of a youthful dream she had never got to have. And she definitely loved him but I don't think KMM was trying to portray their time together as a earth shattering love story for the ages. Just a small moment of happiness for the two.

Also the Shazam scene was so adorable on this re-read! He's so moody i love it!
See ..."
I could reread the Shazam scene over and over, he's so cute! I'm so glad he's real. it's honestly one of my favorite scenes in the entire series. I wish we could've seen the others' reaction to them playing. (aka Ryodan's lol) I wonder what other cool things he can do
I feel the same exact way as you do re: Dancer and Dani!

I wish we got to see Ryodan's reaction to Shazam too. Why did we get so much Mac Shazam interaction and none of Ryo's? lol I will say though I loved that Shazam hated Mac on first sight hahaha. I see you Shazam.
Regarding Dancer I also think Dani deserved to have shared a little moment of happiness with Dancer at that point. Like give that girl a break. Even Ryodan stepped back cause he wanted Dani not to have any regrets.

Shazam is like my spirit animal lmaooo. I'm most looking forward to how Ryodan's going to interact with someone so dramatic and sensitive LOL
lmaooo Shazam hating Mac cracked me up. When mac tells Shazam off for not coming out cuz he didn't feel like it I cracked up too. I think he'll bring a lot of much needed comic relief to this series again (hopefully)
I think Dani loving Dancer is so true to her character I give K Mo a lot of props for it.

Yesss. I want to see how Ryodan's patience is tested by Shazam lmao.
Yeah, I don't agree with everyone saying her love for him came out of nowhere. Like the person who mattered most to 14 yr old Dani was Dancer in Iced. And the person who brought down Jada's icy barrier the most in Feverborn was Dancer.

LOL! yeah they were a cute little fling not the end game. perfect way of putting it fresiako lmao
If Ryodan and Dani do end up together I wonder how Shazam will fit into their life. like will he sleep at the foot of their bed or something LOL

LOL! yeah they were ..."
hahahaha, I bet Shazam will hover above them spying all the time. I don't see him giving up his yiyi to Ryodan without a fight. Since Dani O doesn't give anyone a second chance, Ryodan will have to woo both Dani and Shazam hahaha.

."
Completely agreed every sentence, but i have to add dont underestimate jack lane, ryo and barrons so respectful about jack lane, they made long conversations with him and correct me but one of them says he has a great character(cant remember the book but when they started to live in chesters).. But between ryo and barrons of course jack completely unnecessary about contract..

."
Thinking about it too, probably KMM want to keep Ryodan herself for next Dani book, she want to give more Mac and Barrons in this book for the Mac/barrons lovers as much as possible to satisfy them Otherwise one part of fans get in complete war with KMM, she want to diminish their fever with giving more barrons and lesser ryodan.. but even i not satified with them cos there is nothing more story left to tell about them, their magic end for me..
Dont loose your hope, i bet KMM write an epic book for Ryodan and Dani, and we gonna crawl for even a single look between them

lmao @ the idea of Ryodan having to woo Shazam too. idk about the books being set a couple of yrs later, K Mo hasn't done a time jump in this series yet so idk if I see it. Everything happens in such a short timeline.

I could nitpick a few things here and there but honestly I'm just feeling really satisfied. I agree with a lot of you ladies that some things were a little cheeseball, but I was surprised how much I liked where Mac & Barrons' relationship ended up. Not the whole queen/king thing, but their emotional maturity. And I am HARD CORE shipping Dani & Ryo still! Dancer did win me over and I can totally see how their love was necessary for Dani at that point in her life. Saw his death coming but it still ripped my heart out. Ryo has his work cut out for him after turning Dani away! And Shazam! That was like the best scene ever.
And now begins the wait for Dani's next book. I feel like my life is defined by waiting for KMM's next book lol

Hmm I don't think the unseelie king made them, because then they should have been unmade by the Song of Making. But I doubt KMo will ever reveal all of their origin story. Gotta keep some of that mystery, you know? ;)

I absolutely agree, well said!

1. Barron's didn't eat Unseelie, did he? So how can he possibly become the UK? Especially when he isn't human. Also, that comment of "why didn't you tell me I wasn't you" made it seem like he's been one of the UK splits all along and not just the 'maybe future UK'.
2. It says there is an 'open Silver' imbedded in the mural. Are we supposed to know where that leads without being specifically told? Mac seemed to understand why it was there, so why not share with the class? And why did the Silver change the level of floors in the bookstore?
3. I assume the bracelet that Cruce took from Mac is what kept him from disappearing with the other Unseelie (especially since KMM mentions a flash of metal on his arm in the laboratory), but what was the whole 'wait 4 hours' about? Why as he able of sift and why didn't that bother Mac more that he could and she couldn't even though she was the queen when she knows how deceitful he's been?
4. If this is the last book for Mac & Barron's, what's with the binoculars and other OOPs that she picked up in the mansion? What was even the point with those?
5. What happened to the song of making after Mac sang it?
6. Why were there Kat POVs until she talked to Kasteo and then suddenly she's only mentioned as an afterthought? WTF? Also months have gone by since we knew she was preggo, but the pregnancy is not mentioned either?
7. The whole WeCare thing. It seemed like she was building something there with the whole 'take the white' and then it's just conveniently dissolved while they are in the silvers. B & R could find out any information about anyone in the first few books, so you can't tell me they didn't find out who as behind WeCare.
8. What happened to Roach God?
9. I think the Prologue guy is the Sweeper. He had wings, so he's someone important. The trash heap is just another of his minions. But, why even have that scene in this book if he wasn't going to show up again?
I gave the book a three, because I went into reading this being told everywhere this book was mentioned that it was her last Fever book and then when I got to the ending, it was so confusing and poorly written. She had a chance to wrap up M & Bs storyline all nice and tidy, but everything was so ambiguous that it really left a bad taste in my mouth. If I had been a beta reader on this book, I would have written a thesis on all the holes and ridiculousness in that ending.

It's her last Mac and Barrons book. She's releasing a Dani Book next year. :)

Mac - I loved in the first five books and felt that her story have HEA. Burned and the next two books ruin her for me. I just couldn't stand her. I didn't like that she's getting all this power..
Barron - Too much testerone.
Ryodan - Where is he post Iced??
Dani - Hopefully will get to read more of her journey.
KMM did say she regret writing Dani before finishing Mac story. I agree, I think by combining Dani and Mac story, she started a fanwar with her characters fan.
I think if she did write Dani's story it will be a different world since they did enter a portal.

Exactly feel the same, lifes goes between kmm books

I got this feeling as well, but it could go either way. I guess it depends how many Dani books are coming: if her story basically wraps up in the next one then I think some time will have to pass for her to rack up those life experiences and other relationships she needs to mature. If Ryo is the end game then after the events of FS it wouldn't be authentic that she suddenly does a complete 360 when it comes to him. But if there's more than one book coming, it could probably stay on the same timeline.

Hey Angel :) I didn't pick up on Mac being the concubine. Zara was the concubine, and then she was turned into the Seelie queen. Mac is just Mac, and now the seelie queen.

In Feverborn, Christian said:

I think he meant that the heart of druid is very potent :)

Dani and Dancer felt rushed. It seemed like KMM wanted to get Dani's first love/first time out of the way, so she could move on to Dani/Ryodan without critics complaining that Ryodan had been grooming Dani or something. Because hey, the old guy didn't take the young woman's (who he's known since she was a kid) virginity. Now she's a "experienced" woman who's ready for him. At least that is what it felt like to me.
Ryodan is not the same character that I feel in love with in Iced so tbh I don't really care if him and Dani do end up together. I'm not even sure if I'm going to read Dani's book. I pretty much just skimmed Feversong.
Yeah, I'm disappointed.

After all my anti-Dani/Dancer tirade and after re-reading the book again, I ll tell you guys why I actually love it now LOL
I think after the first time the taste was so bitter in me at the end of the book (because how things went with Dani), that it totally overshadowed the whole story and the why-s of it. I couldn't even feel the happy sweetness in Shazam-reunion, coz of Dancer's death (didn't realized it was what disturbed me so much until I read most of you guys describing how it freaked you too).
From the moment they said Dancer has heart problem it was already a sign he'll probs kick the bucket. But with Ryo stepping down and letting our girl open and give all her shiny heart to Dancer, I think it also became clear that Dancer will die. It's just that we also had to experience the death...brrr... I think it made it such a heavy read! It's like I read not a paranormal-adventure-romance-whateverelsefun book, but a proper heart-breaking drama.
I think Ryo is amazing for stepping down (maybe calling Dani a hoe was bit too much, but still...tho i mean LOL! He is to talk! Jo much? LOL). But there was no way he'd be like: mmm-yeah-baby-i-love-you-so-much-but-now-go-to-Dancer-coz-he'll-die-and-you-need-to-spend-time-with-him-while-also-having-hot-thoughts-of-me-supernatural-buttocks. LOL
He had to push her away convincingly, coz our girl is smart. Although even smart, she was in emotional turmoil - something she never had to face before. She'd be ignoring and suppressing all all the time. How was she supposed to know how to deal with it now ;-(..
And then our brilliant girl went to Dancer and gave him everything, no holding back. No some fake dating stuff. Honest love and no fear. They were awesome. Considering they knew the ending, it was amazing how bravely they allowed themselves to feel (knowing, especially Dani, that later this will make the pain milion times worse). I loved them! And my heart hurts thinking of it.
That's why i hated it so much in the beginning, coz it hurts like a bitch LOL
Oh, and btw I think that what Ryo did wasn't easy for him. And i think that it wasn't so much that his girl will be groped by a geeky dude that apparently knows what to do with his dick after all xD. I think he just knew that he was basically sending her to something that will break her heart so much. But he also knew that regretting not being with Dancer would have hurt Dani much worse, as it would have been forever.

After all my anti-Dani/Dancer tirade and after re-reading the book again, I l..."
I agree with your take on this.
(P.S. Hi, I'm new to this thread, but I read all the comments, as I'm Fever/Dani/Ryo obsessed and couldn't wait to discuss it with like minded people. I was one of those who loved theorizing and dissecting everything that happened in Iced, back in the day on the forum. *sigh* Good times. Anyway).
Re-reading some of the parts with Jada/Dani/Dancer and ignoring the NO-NO-No's being yelled from the board of the Ryodani ship as it was sinking in a sea of hurt and disappointment, things kinda make sense. I don't LIKE them, I hated the execution, it was all rushed and awkward - but they do make sense imo.
I wanted to skip over the entire thing, it just felt so painful and wrong and cringey to read (especially because of the all Ryo KNOWING about it, PUSHING her towards it and even freaking FEELING it - talk about gut wrenching and ICK!) but I can see how Dani needed that experience in her life.
Dani still feels very young in this book. Because for the most part in the other 2 books and while in the Silvers, she was Jada, so this Dani that was resurfacing was pretty much the same 14 yo that disappeared at the end of Iced. For this version of her to be with Ryo at this stage wouldn't have been right. Too much, too soon, skipping portions of her life. AGAIN.
The Dani-Dancer thing was the closure the young Dani needed, the one who crushed over his boyish geeky looks, eyes, happy smiles and whatever she was seeing in him in Iced. The one who dreamed of a normal life with a normal bf. The real passage from that Dani to the 19-20-whatever yo badass girl she's become.
Like I said, I understood the need for that, but man, was it really necessary to happen that way? *sigh* KMM could at least have glazed over it, like she did so many other important scenes.
I need badass Ryo back ASAP. I need the banter and passion and action from Iced. It'd better come back in the next installment, not so sure how long I can keep the ship from sinking lol.
On another note, i don't think Ryo had anything to do with WeCare. That might still come up in the next books, as another foe of Dani's lol. What about that Caoihme girl? She sure had motive lmao.

Yes, apparently she confirmed it at the Q&A in NOLA and said it would be 'in another vein', but wouldn't say more about it and what that meant...

"Qs & As: One last thing--tomorrow I'm going to join the 'Spoiler Group". During that time, I'll answer questions. Not necessarily all and that doesn't mean I'll shed light on matters I left, deliberately, to your imagination. I won't spell out the ending any more clearly than I did, or tell you the origin myth of the Nine, or weave untold stories about secondary characters. But if you have questions I can answer, I will. On Friday, I'll unjoin the group and bow out. I look forward to talking spoilers with you!"
Quick, what should we ask? :))

didint know that, i send an request right now thx for sharing^^

Q: The DEG talks about that maybe he wasn’t part of the Unseelie King. So who could he be?
KMM: That’s a damn good question. There is something else I planted in Feversong. Did you catch it? And I’m not answering that either. That was an open ended thing that was left deliberately opened.
Q: What part made you cry?
KMM: The scene when Dancer died. It killed me because it is so typical.
Q: Am I the only one who cried for Ryodan for what he did-pretty much sending Dani to Dancer?
KMM: I don’t know. How did you guys feel?
Q: In Iced he (Ryodan) was contemplating killing Dancer. What changed in his prospective?
KMM: I think that sometimes I strive for a bit too much verisimilitude in my writing because what I want to capture is a character who in no way is perfect. There are no perfect characters in my books. They are all flawed. We are all flawed. And just like we be like oh no I have to hold you so close to me. But, then you’re like-oh no I really love this person and I’m not good for them. I think that Ryodan is flawed. He is flawed. He tries to do his thing. He’s been alive for so long and he has seen so much and been changed by this endless existence and he, just like all of the 9, is very brutal. Living a long time makes you lose some of the…. And it almost makes you bottom line in a way. I think that he is just like any human being.
Q: Since we are talking about Ryodan, did he open the We Care to give Dani another dragon to slay?
KMM: I haven’t answered the we care issue yet and it is still pending,
Q; Remember when Dani is in a fugue at the end and she thinks Barrons came in and held her hand. What do you think he said to her when he was holding her hand?
KMM: Really? You think I’m going to give you Barrons words? Oh my God! I’m sorry. I love it when you ask, when you want more story. I love it when you ask questions like that because it tells me you’re really engaged in that moment and that you want more intimate detail. But, with Barrons I will often close that door and not give you it because that is who Barrons is and I try to honor his character. So I’m not going to answer that. I’m not sure I even know it in my head. Barrons has a door in my head. It closes a lot.
KMM: I have two questions for you guys. Did you end the book feeling that Mac and Barrons-that you could let go of them now?
Yes!
KMM: Wonderful. Did you end the book feeling interested in Dani?
Oh yes!!
KMM: Are you guys ready for her now? Cause I don’t want to bring her out again unless I get to take her where I want to take her.
YES!!
KMM: Thank you guys. It (Iced) actually sold really well and if you look at Amazon it has more reviews than anything I’ve ever written and a phenomenally positive rating, There were a huge number of people who loved it. But I can tell you this, a very tiny minority can do such a smear job that other people refuse to touch it. Especially when you throw certain buzz words out. I guess that’s the reason I am encouraging the reviews or a the very least the intelligent pointing out of that’s not what’s in this book
Q: I was not disappointed in Dani and Ryodan because I felt he knew she was not there yet and he would destroy her.
KMM: Like he says. If she fucks me she’ll be more like me. If she fucks him, she’ll be more like him. He knows this. He has always known this. What Ryodan sees in Dani is this incredible…. You see it in his back story. They share this incredibly similar childhood. And you guys didn’t know that. See. I always know these things. See sometimes I don’t tell you these things and you think oh there’s no reason for this. But there’s a reason in my head. I just haven’t gotten to it yet. But Ryodan… She’s just amazing to him. More than he wants her for himself, he wants her to be whole and healthy and thrive. And the funny thing is- he gets love. He does get what love is. And that’s what it is. You have to want that other person to be whole and healthy and happy more than you want them for yourself.
Q; Was there a scene in the book that you absolutely did not want to write, but that your muse was telling you that you had to?
KMM: Somebody said that it was jo. But, it wasn’t Jo. It was Dancer. I loved Dancer’s character. I absolutely loved his character. I could have played with him forever. But, he had such grace under pressure and he had such a good attitude about how life is. He was such a strong young man. I would love to have continued. I wouldn’t be surprised if in the future I write a character very similar to him because I was not done with him. It was hard.
Q: In the first book you could see Ryodan even guiding Mac.
KMM: The thing is, is these guys are rough around the edges. A few years back I trained with some military guys. I trained with a Russian guy and I trained with a sniper. And I got up really up close and personal look at these kind of men who are not only in the military but who are in the darkest, the most dangerous, most difficult parts of the military. They are much like my 9. They don’t always say the right thing. They don’t always do the right thing. But they have a code of honor and a code of ethics that is set in stone. They are fiercely loyal. I think you see that in a lot of our military who have faced hard combat and who have PTSD. But that doesn’t mean they are not good men at the core of it.
KMM: Did you find Dancer’s name? I finally gave you Dancer’s name.
Dancer Elias Garrick
KMM: What are those initials?
DEG
KMM: Well damn! That’s not necessarily a tid bit. Just something to chew on. It could have been an accident. It may not.

Q: The DEG talks about that maybe he wasn’t part of the Unseelie King. So who could he be?
KMM: That’s a damn good question. There is ..."

1) I mean it was probs DEG. But now I am getting into the theory that DEG and Dancer are one and the same? People on the fb page keep saying KMM emphasised that Dancer's full name initials were D.E.G....
2) NOOO please no more Mac and Barrons. I actually can't read anymore of them. I gave KMM up until this book to finish mac and barrons. I'm not reading any more Mac and Barrons books lol.
3) No they are each others forever love or whatever.
4) I think we'll see more sweeper in the next arc.
5)Hmmm maybe. I dunno. Her reaction to Ryodan's true form was mostly jealousy tho lmao.
6) Hopefully we'll find out in the next arc.
7) Yes. I feel like there will be a time skip of a few years. Maybe it'll be when Dublin has rebuilt itself into the next best thing.
8) I think they just love eachother. Plus it's dani, I can totally believe her becoming best friends with a civilisation eating hel-cat.
9) I think it's cause Dani made him promise to stay where he was incase he jumped through the wrong silver. The way she described the planet x it sounded like there were 100,000 + mirrors moving around all the time. Shazam might have accidentally gone through the wrong one and then Dani and Shazam would never see eachother. :'(
10) Na, Dani didn't go through the transformation that Dageus did.
