¨spoilers alert¨
Faust part one is a book where Mephistopheles makes a bet with god that he can turn one of gods most loyal followers to the devil. The devil accomplishes this by going down to earth and promising Faust he will do what ever he wants in this life as long as Faust serves him for eternity in hell upon death. Faust agrees to this by signing his signature in his own blood. Faust then finds Gretchen and likes her which he gets the devil to help win her. they end up liking each other and then later on they have a kid and Gretchen´s brother threatens to kill Faust. with the help of the devil Faust kills her brother. later on Gretchen dies and unfortunately Faust finds out she is saved.

one thing I really liked about this book is it was highly poetic and every couple sentence it rhymed and had that sort of rhythm. another thing I really enjoyed about this piece is the irony that was twisted in, such as the most christian and loyal person turns to the devil and is involved with witchcraft.

the only thing that i can really complain with about this book is that to some extent the sentences were difficult to understand.

but for those interested in poetry and mythology i would recommend this book.
