Faith | 506 comments I recommended a book and my library bought it. They sent me an email saying it is now available for me to borrow and the book is in my holds. Unfortunately when I try to borrow it I get an error message (Error?) and overdrive support is not being helpful. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so how did you fix it?

Mara Pemberton (marapem) | 233 comments Talk to the library. The problem maybe on their end.

Latoya | 49 comments Are you on the overdrive app? Did you sign in with your library card number?

Mara Pemberton (marapem) | 233 comments I have an app and I have no problem logging in.

Yes and yes.

Thanks. I've sent a message to the library.

Dawn | 34 comments Today when I tried to access my library via the Overdrive android app, I got a message that the library's security certificate was expired or something to that effect. I could continue by choosing to ignore it and was then able to download my book.

Faith | 506 comments The library fixed the problem. The book wasn't really available to be borrowed (despite the email saying that it was) because I was 2 on the wait list. They moved me up to first on the list.

W. Frazier | 29 comments This happened to me also. And it also was for a new book that was just purchased by my local library. It was fixed in a day. Maybe they were just too quick to fill the request and the Overdrive system wasn't completely ready? I believe it was a popular book so maybe all of the copies weren't yet in the queue.

John | 3922 comments Overdrive support does not deal with patrons directly! You must tell your library the specific problem, which they will copy and forward to Overdrive. Their response will be forwarded on to you.

Overdrive support responded to me three times and also sent me a questionnaire to tell them how they did. They didn't solve my problem, but they were certainly responsive to direct contact.

This happens to me since they updated overdrive, and its a recommended book. I have to try multiple browsers to get the book, but most of the time I have to send a note to the tech support and have them clear the error ( this takes about a day)

not sure why it happens - but you would think the book would just be on the "loans" tab Vs the "holds" tab... makes no sense to me

Mara Pemberton (marapem) | 233 comments Let the library know your problems. It's on their end. Not yours.

I had a similar issue, but my problem was the book email came to me before the book was actually released and available. I'd requested a pre-release book before it was in our library's subscriptions, so was first. Think there can sometimes be a timing issue.

Straightened itself out by the next day.
