Similarities to 'Save the Pearls'?

From what I've read from those off-site, and from authors/reviewers I like and trust, has me worried. Some parts of the novel, and most of it's main intrigue, seem to be a gender swapped version of an earlier book, Save the Pearls, which is pretty widely known for its racism.

Something about a peaceful white race being enslaved and oppressed by a warlike black race seems insensitive at best to me, and outright racist at worst. I've compiled a few articles that seemed to express those thoughts better that I could, for your perusal:
