Same! This isn't a book I would normally pick up in the library put upon reading a review on Goodreads I was motivated to check it out. I thought it was an okay book, I wish they wouldn't have rushed the ending like they did. 3 Stars from me too!

I've been meaning to read this book for a long time and I happen to have an audio recording of it so I may be able to sneak it in during dog walks.

This turned out to be a quick but very entertaining read. I was very touched by the courage Junior exhibited in his quest to escape the life that fate had planned for him. I really loved the way that Alexie mixed humor with the painful to make a well-rounded book.

It is apparent that the complaints leading to this book being banned was for its honest handling of subjects near and dear to the typical fourteen year-old boy.

I really enjoyed this book- I liked that it was both funny and tragic at the same time. I find it interesting that this book is so controversial. To me it seems like there are so many books that deal with teenage girl issues and hardly any that deal with teenage boy issues. I would think that many teenage boys could relate with some (hopefully not all) of the issues that the main character is dealing with. I also really appreciated the way the graphics tied in with the story and the different art styles of the illustrations.

I really enjoyed this one. A quick read, but not short on the feels. I appreciated the struggle between wanting to succeed, at the cost of the guilt Arnold felt at "betraying" his tribe. It was also sad to feel the sense of accepted hopelessness when it came to realities of life on the reservation.
