Then they should get books from authors, such as Nora Roberts, that fans could download and listen to it.
Sometimes I feel like I may have made up an unusually high percentage of those Overdrive audiobook check-outs. :)Seriously, though, I feel like I used to be the only listener I knew, and now more and more people are starting to try them. So these stats don't surprise me, based on my very small microcosm of life.
At one time I made frequent trips to the library to borrow audio-books on CD. Now the library has made it so convenient. I can get books on my phone from wherever I am instead of having to run to the library. And there are no overdue fees. When the books are due, the library takes them back. Recently I have noticed that I'm on the waiting list for books frequently. I guess this is another proof of the increase in popularity.
I love being able to borrow e-books and audio-books from the library but I'm concerned about the authors getting their fair share for their creativity and hard work. Proof readers, narrators and others involved in production..
I love being able to borrow audio-books from my local library. They have a huge selection and are getting new ones all of the time. I work from home so I listen to them while I am working. I would say that half of my check-outs are audio books.
I'm have an audiobook company membership and they now use Overdrive too which is great and really handy.
I'm not surprised that the number of borrows has increased. Everywhere you look now, you see people with earphones in, especially at the gym. One of my friends reads a book a week by going to the gym. I only like to listen to them if the narrator is really good.
