Grumpus | 473 comments There have been recent discussions of Hoopla here and then I came across this and thought it relevant. While this is Overdrive data, it shows audiobook borrowing through Overdrive at libraries up 34% in 2016. Also, some other interesting stats including the most popular audiobooks.

Mara Pemberton (marapem) | 233 comments Then they should get books from authors, such as Nora Roberts, that fans could download and listen to it.

MissSusie | 2421 comments At my library my patrons checkout 60% Audiobooks to 40% eBooks from Overdrive

Kristie | 2212 comments Sometimes I feel like I may have made up an unusually high percentage of those Overdrive audiobook check-outs. :)

Seriously, though, I feel like I used to be the only listener I knew, and now more and more people are starting to try them. So these stats don't surprise me, based on my very small microcosm of life.

Brigitta Moon (brigittamoon) | 16 comments At one time I made frequent trips to the library to borrow audio-books on CD. Now the library has made it so convenient. I can get books on my phone from wherever I am instead of having to run to the library. And there are no overdue fees. When the books are due, the library takes them back. Recently I have noticed that I'm on the waiting list for books frequently. I guess this is another proof of the increase in popularity.

Margaret | 316 comments I love being able to borrow e-books and audio-books from the library but I'm concerned about the authors getting their fair share for their creativity and hard work. Proof readers, narrators and others involved in production..

Anne Wi | 10 comments I love being able to borrow audio-books from my local library. They have a huge selection and are getting new ones all of the time. I work from home so I listen to them while I am working. I would say that half of my check-outs are audio books.

Sophie (sophiesworld) I'm have an audiobook company membership and they now use Overdrive too which is great and really handy.

Rachel Carrington (rcarrington) | 4 comments I'm not surprised that the number of borrows has increased. Everywhere you look now, you see people with earphones in, especially at the gym. One of my friends reads a book a week by going to the gym. I only like to listen to them if the narrator is really good.

Michelle (marcher08) | 168 comments I absolutely love Overdrive. I check out lots of ebooks and I'm sure that it has more than doubled the number of audiobooks I listen to. The only thing I feel guilty about is that now I hardly ever actually go into my local library.
