Interesting book, how humans try to understand and relate to aliens, I suppose. But we always relate to them as if they are humans?
Just got the book and the movie (Russian version) from the library. I decided to watch the movie first. It is very slow. I am about half way through. There definitely seems to be a communication problem between the humans and aliens.
I have just started, page 45. And I agree, it is interesting, but not much else yet. Still a little early to tell
Page 132Just finished the chapter titled The Monsters. So much theory and description that did not make any sense. Good gosh, couldn't they have edited that a bit.
In the end, I thought Solaris would have been better as a short story. Interesting but not requiring so much text.
If the ending was supposed to mean something, it was completely lost on me. I took away two things from this book. 1. Communication with non-human aliens is difficult if not impossible. 2. Humans are quick to try and kill.
