I don't set a challenge / goal of any number of books to read. But I DO participate in several groups that are challenge focused:A couple of my favorites:
CRAZY CHALLENGE CONNECTION
THE SEASONAL READING CHALLENGE
MONTHLY CHALLENGES
I also participate in monthly / quarterly challenges in these groups (which were formerly on Shelfari):
PLAY BOOK TAG
PAGING ALL BOOKWORMS
GRAB A BOOK & PLAY BOOKTIVITY
I am doing a pyramid challenge with 12 levels, each level is a different genre. I have 72 books to read but I usually read about 45-60 a year so that will be a challenge.
I'm doing a CLASSICS BINGO -- 25 books & I'm going to try to black-out!! I've read one so far :0And I'm doing an OLD & NEW CLASSIC CHALLENGE which includes 14 classics that range from 1856 to 1973 (so many of these books have been on my TBR list for 30 years -- I just want them off!).
And then I'm doing my own BOOKSHELF CHALLENGE of books that I've bought at library sales for a quarter! -- and have never gotten to. So Now Is The Time!
I think if I pace it right, I'll be able to get to quite a few of the classics and bookshelf books, and still be able to read some fun ones that just come up. But we'll see... !!

Good luck Terris!

Good luck on yours also! Which group does your 12-level pyramid challenge? That looks interesting!
Bel, what caused the loss of reading mojo? Are you burned out on reading too much of the same thing?

One of my groups on Library Thing has a site encouraging challenges and I just made this up myself. Lot of people are doing 12x12 but I know I could not read that many books so I set up this pyramid challenge and picked my own topics.

I finished reading a number of books from the Library and just didn't see anything I wanted to read - so I actually am reading a book I OWN instead. What a unique idea, right! ^-^ I'm reading "The Incense Game" by Laura Joh Rowland. Of course I haven't started with the first book in the series, no that would be smart, but if I like this story (and so far I do) I will probably go back and read the others. And yes, my Library has quite a number of her books, go figure.
My reading challenge is 30 books. I get them from the library. I didn't know that the library has so many good books. Sorry for my English, my main language is Spanish. Good luck this year with your reading! :)

I thought that was it, but I switched genres and still couldn't stick with it. The thought of reading anything just makes me tired.

Sometimes you just have to take a break, do something else, and then get back into reading. Then you will find a book that you want to read and go thru it in no-time.

Last year I read a grand total of 24 books. I'm going to try to meet that. As you can see, I have lost my reading mojo.
