ABANDONED. YA book read in early 2000s starts off with mother attempting to kill children, some escape and eventually want to visit her in the mental institution

This is pretty vague because it's been so long since I read it but I remember the main character's name may have been Francis and I think there was someone called Spring.

The book begins with the mother attempting to murder her children by drowning or setting the house on fire, Francis and one or two siblings escape and eventually go see the mother in the mental ward. I can't remember much else but I'd love to find this book again! Thanks in advance for the help!
