Jackaby by William RitterBoth are excellent YA books. Both are magic realism/urban fantasy. Jackaby is a fun romp. A Monster Calls will rip your heart to tatters.

Doctor Who: The American Adventures by Justin RichardsThe first two were good reads but Monstress was actually scarier than the ghost stories. It's some really dark fantasy. The Doctor Who was okay but ultimately forgettable.
