Pick It For Me Challenge: Jan/Feb 2017
My Name: Jenny
My Partner: Sarah
The books picked for me:
3 stars
I liked it. It took a little while to get going, but the setting was beautiful, and the characters were definitely interesting!
3 stars
Overall, a nice pleasant read. I had an issue with the writing--it felt almost like a diary, how the MC told the reader everything that was happening, instead of letting the story tell itself. Also as a narrator, she told the reader everything before it happened, so that was kind of odd. But I liked it, it had great setting and characters and lots of drama and romance!
4 stars
This was a really interesting read about a girl with severe OCD. I think the author really did her research well for this one, and it was so easy to connect with the MC. Pretty well developed characters, except for her mom.
5 stars
I absolutely LOVED this one! Very awesome start to a fantasy series, I'm looking forward to reading the rest!

Loving
so far! This plot is so complex that it's almost hard to follow . . . almost. But not quite. I love the characters and am so interested to find out just what's going on!

Yay, Jen! It's really different and since I love the show Survivor, I'm getting lots of insider information. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Karen wrote: "Jen, yes. :)"I have 3 chapters left and HOLY CRAP.
I have a suspicion. Actually - I think I knew it.
The miscommunication in this book is epic.

Karen wrote: "Jen wrote: "Karen wrote: "Jen, yes. :)"Good assumption! But again, the assumptions and miscommunications in this book are epic. I finished it yesterday and was kind of reeling for awhile. There is so much right about the book in the kinds of things it purports and the way that gets reflected in both real human behavior and the way it's reflected within the story all over the place. I'll wait till you finish to discuss it further, but I have to say that Oliva did this really well on a philosophical level.
I'm pretty well into
and while I like the story, I don't like Julia Whelan's narration. I don't generally like her as a narrator because her voices for the guys are at a pitch that makes it sound as if she's imitating someone rather than voicing them. I think it must be that "shhh" sound in her intonations that are the problem. I've gotten the ebook and will probably continue with it there.
I finished
I had no idea what to expect on this one, so was very pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. Jen, you're right. The author did great at making this philosophical. Very unique and interesting concept! 4 star read for me!

Finished
and really enjoyed it. I have to say I like Jamie McGuire's paranormal books better than her strait romance

Yay! :)
I am 40 pages from finishing
. LONG book, but I'm glad I stuck with it. I was trying to finish it last night but at 1:30 a.m. my eyes just couldn't stay open. Plus I had work today so shouldn't have been up that late anyway. ;) I'm really glad I switched to the print copy. Once I hit about halfway, I got completely invested.

Finally finished NOS4A2. 4 star read for me. Scary horror story that's about a place called Christmasland that is one big nightmare for the regular folk. Joe Hill is very much like his father, Stephen King!
Finished
on 2/7. Gave it 4 stars.Alrighty, finished
on 2/12. It got 4 stars as well. I can definitely see why this is a classic. Really enjoyed the layers of the relationships, especially between Dana and Rufus, and Dana and Kevin. It was also interesting to see just how much has changed since this book's original publication.Finished
last night. Read it in 2 days, gave it a 4.5 and have the sequel on hold now at the library.Finished
today and gave it 2 stars. It wasn't bad but the whole premise made my head hurt and there were parts that didn't quite work for me. I don't think I'll get the other two in the series.

I finished my last one
I really liked it and gave it 4 stars. You picked some great reads for me they all got 4 stars lol.
Sadly, I haven't finished either of the 2 books I have to read.
This is good but the audio leaves a bit to be desired. I'm halfway thru but have decided to switch to the ebook and just haven't gotten to it yet - other things have prevailed.
This one just hasn't grabbed me. I've started it and gotten about 30 minutes into the audiobook, but it just isn't interesting. I think I'm just not in the right headspace for it right now.On the other hand, I did read
with Karen, since it was one of her picks, and really enjoyed that. It's philosophical and psychological - and one of those books that's frustrating because of the tension, which makes it even better.
☆Joycedale☆ wrote: "I finished my last one Changing Course (Wrecked and Ruined, #1) by Aly Martinez I really liked it and gave it 4 stars."I really liked that one too. The sequel isn't as good in my opinion (Stolen Course) but that's just me - it's all about forgiveness and the romance develops really nicely, so there is that.

This was a really interesting read about a girl with severe OCD. I think the author really did her research well for this one, and it was so easy to connect with the MC. Pretty well developed characters, except for her mom. Anyways, I really liked it!
And so glad I got that in before the end of the month.
I still have one more book to finish, which I'm going to read soon! I really do want to read

You now have one week to decide amongst yourselves how many books you will pick for each other, and to make those choices.
You can chat with your partner either here or by PM- PREFERABLY BY PERSONAL MESSAGE SO THAT THIS BOARD IS NOT CLUTTERED UP.
Either way, all of you MUST do a post on here this week that is similar to the example that I did on the first post:
My name: Jenny
My partner: Sarah
The books picked for me:
Cinder (read 3/16/2015)- 4 stars. Intriguing premise, great characters, and a really cool retelling that was unfortunately plagued by predictability.
The Hunt (read 3/28/2015)- 4 stars. The Hunt had lots of suspense, admirable lead characters, and kept me scared and nervous.
Note that you have until the end of February to read the books and edit/fill in the information/short review at the bottom.
Have fun!
