Connie | 9 comments I just started this one. Don't let the title fool you it has nothing to do with the shades of grey series. It's about a 15 yr old girl in Lithuania in the 40's when the Soviet is taking over. I just need to find a category it fits into :) I don't like books about war they make me too sad for days after I read them but I've heard this one is worth it.

K (auntiek) | 16 comments Certainly a movie-worthy book, though I'm sure no movie could do the book justice. Maybe someone will make it into a movie?

Connie | 9 comments I just looked it up, they are making it into a movie. It comes out this year. Yay! I can put it under that category

K (auntiek) | 16 comments Connie, I don't remember/know where you live, but Ruta Sepetys is speaking in Murfreesboro on Jan 28 at the Friends of Linebaugh Library luncheon ($20 to join and $5 for lunch). http://www.wgnsradio.com/friends-of-l...

BTW, I enjoyed Salt to the Sea even more than Between Shades of Gray.

Connie | 9 comments Anyone know what the Friends of Linebaugh is and what I'd be getting myself into if I joined it? lol

I saw a poster for this in the library elevator. I want to say the author is coming to town soon.

Hi Connie. I've been a member of Friends of Linebaugh Library for several years. It's the fundraising group for the library and raises money to support summer reading and other great library programs and facilities.

The best thing about membership is that the Friends group has a used bookstore in the parking garage under the library. They have periodic Saturday morning book sales open to the public. But twice a year they have members-only book sales the week before the public sale (so you get first dibs!). Other than that, there's not much to it! Low-risk to join. :)
