I stared at Jamie as I followed her through the field. "Wait...you're talking to the horse? And he understands you?"
Coco Bean whinnied in outrage and made to charge Alex before I dove in front of him.
"Woah! Down boy! Easy, easy. Alex here isn't as smart as you are. I know you understand me, Alex? Not so much."
"Woah! Down boy! Easy, easy. Alex here isn't as smart as you are. I know you understand me, Alex? Not so much."
I took a timid step away from the horse. "Um...yeah. I mean, of course he understands you! Silly me, I knew that."
I paused. "Hey wait now just a minute! I'm smart!"
I paused. "Hey wait now just a minute! I'm smart!"
I grinned and patted Alex on the cheek. "Now now, I didn't say you weren't smart, I just said the horse was smarter than you!"
Coco Bean snorted like, Hey, what she said.

I dropped into a nosedive, breaking through the clouds. In the field below, about a hundred horses and pegasi were grazing contentedly.
I let out a shrill whinny, flapping my wings to circle the field again. A few of the horses lifted their heads in acknowledgement, then went back to grazing.
I whinnied again and swept my gaze across the field. Down by the line of trees, I spotted Jamie and Coco Bean talking to some boy I didn't recognize. A devious idea came to mind and I flew over.
After circling them a couple times, I gave another whinny and dove straight for Jamie. She didn't see me until I grabbed the back of her shirt in my teeth and soared back into the clouds, swinging her onto my back.

Alex didn't have time to retaliate before I was suddenly wrenched off my feet. I screamed as the thing that had grabbed me rocketed into the sky.
When we broke the clouds, the creature swung me around and deposited me onto its back, and I found myself clutching the muscled neck of a chestnut pegasus.

I grinned to myself, as the scent of Jamie's fear, and then confusion, mingled together.
I made for another nosedive, folding my wings tight and plummeting like a stone.
I made for another nosedive, folding my wings tight and plummeting like a stone.
Before I could gather my bearings, the pegasus folded it's wings and dove through the clouds.
I screamed again, emptying my lungs and yelling for all I was worth. The ground raced towards us at a sickening pace, and with each passing second my stomach clenched into a tinier and tinier ball.
We were about a hundred feet from the ground now.
"Pull up!" I screamed, but I doubted the pegasus heard me over the rush of the air. "Pull up! Pull up! PULL UP!"

((Yay!))
I laughed to myself, planning to tease Jamie later on her screaming, and did a graceful pirouette to pull out of the dive at the last second. My hooves brushed the ground.
I flapped my wings, gaining back all the altitude and doing a couple backflips just to annoy Jamie.

"Um...HELP?!?" I yelled. "This is terrifying! Someone get me down!"

There was a soft click, and a pair of reins fell into my lap. Leaning as much as I dared, I peered around the pegasus and realized there was a halter around the pegasus' head.
I snatched up the reigns and pulled back hard.
I snatched up the reigns and pulled back hard.
Suddenly, there was a sharp snap of leather against my face and I flinched, opening my eyes to see a thick bridle clamped around my muzzle. Then Jamie tugged on the reins with a hard jerk and made my head lurch at a painful angle.
I screamed, rearing back as my legs pawed uselessly at the air. Fear exploded in my gut and I thrashed against the bridle, trying to throw it off my head.

I fought to maintain control of the horse, but it was strong, and it's terrified bucking threw me off it's back.
I screamed as I plummeted for the ground.
I screamed as I plummeted for the ground.
A sharp scream shattered my fear, and I saw Jamie falling towards the ground.
I let out a long string of curses and dove after her, swooping underneath to catch her before colliding with the ground. I tried to achieve a graceful landing, but my legs got tangled in the reins and I stumbled, tripping over myself and landing in a knotted heap.

I sprawled across the grass, panting and breathless. So...even if the Pegasus acted like I was a toy, at least it had saved my life.
I glanced over to where it lay on the grass. One of its wings was bent at an awkward angle, and it legs were all tangled in the reigns.
I managed to crawl over to the struggling horse.

I whinnied in fear, struggling to free myself of the reigns. I felt trapped and cornered, and the stiff leather bit into my muzzle and legs.
Well, well, well. Look who's back.
I turned my green eyes to the light brown horse standing a ways away. He watched me with an amused expression, seeming to chew an apple placidly.
Nice entrance, you made there.
I whinnied as he trotted over.
Shut up you fat...cow!
Coco Bean looked unimpressed. Was that supposed to be an insult?
Your face is an insult.
He nickered. Alright, alright, easy there Descendant.
I tried to stand again, but I couldn't keep my balance and I fell over, making my head snap painfully. I screamed in frustration and kicked out wildly, nearly clubbing Jamie in the head.

I grabbed Jamie and jerked her back, as she tried to make her way towards the thrashing pegasus.
"Careful!" I yelled. "That thing is wild! It's almost already killed you like, twice."

I sucked in a sharp breath as Alex jerked me back right before the pegasus kicked out at me.
"But it's hurt!" I protested. "We have to treat it. And besides, we can't just walk away without even untangling the poor animal!"

((Nighty night, Stacy, Elise, and Weird and Odd, see y'all tomorrow!))

America was looking around at all the different horses. She was trying to find one that suited her and it was turning out to be a challenge.

America slowly approached a horse. The horse shook its head and she whispered,"Easy boy..." The horse pawed the ground. He was a solid black stallion with rare blue eyes, and he snorted and snickered. America whispered again,"i'm not gonna hurt you..."
I screamed as the girl kneeled by my head. This was the one who'd lassoed me, and at the moment, I was not a happy camper.
I strained against the reigns, trying to kick out at her.
I strained against the reigns, trying to kick out at her.

"Ace, get back!" I shouted, grabbing my friend's arm and yanking her away from the kicking horse.
"Geez, this thing is not very cooperative."
"Geez, this thing is not very cooperative."
Thing?! I whinnied. Say that to my face! You little–
Coco bean stepped on my harness before I could lash out and attack the demigods.
Easy there Decendant. he chided. They're trying to help.
I glared up at him. They're doing a fine job of that.
Well, you're not exactly making this easy.
When I didn't answer, he nudged my shoulder. Why don't you change into your human form? He suggested. It'll be easier to free yourself that way.
I scowled. King of bright ideas I see. I muttered sarcastically. Jamie knows who I am, but not that guy or the other girl.
Coco Bean gave me a smug look. Well, then maybe you should have thought of that before you made your little entrance.
I made a growling noise deep in my throat. I hate it when you're right.
Coco Bean snickered out a laugh. If that were true you'd hate me all the time.
Don't make me kick you, you stupid horse!
You couldn't even if you wanted to.
I glared angain. Well since you're so concerned...
I closed my eyes.
There was an instant change in the feel of my body, almost like I was turning to warm clay. My legs folded back, my tail disappeared, my wings melted into my sides and my muzzle shrank and blunted.
I let out a moan and shook off the reigns, letting them fall to the ground with a satisfying thud.
I reached back and rubbed my sore neck.
"Gods of Rome Jamie..." I muttered, standing up with a slight wobble. I brushed the dirt off my shorts. "You pull like a horse."

I sucked in a sharp breath. "A shapeshifter!" Instantly, my sword was in my hand. I pointed it at the pegasus/girl.
"Who are you?" I demanded. "And what do you want?"
"Who are you?" I demanded. "And what do you want?"
I held up my hands and took a step back, stumbling as I almost tripped over the reigns again. "Woah, easy there. I'm not trying to hurt you."
I narrowed my eyes and took a step closer, my sword still pointed at her chest. "Oh really? And I think I'm talking to the one that just tossed my friend around like a cat with a mouse."
"Hey!" I protested. "I didn't even hurt her. And besides, Jamie knows I would never do anything to put her in danger."

I choked and thrust my sword closer to her sternum."How do you know her name?"

My eyes widened, and I grabbed Alex's arm. "Put the sword down." I whispered, then turned to the all-too familiar girl with platinum blonde hair.
"Chris?!"
"Chris?!"

I cleared my throat and took another step back. "Yep...that's me."
My eyes darted between Jamie and the taller boy she'd called Alex. "And yeah, we know each other."

I was so stunned that I didn't even hear when Ace snapped out an order. I just stared at Chris as a plethora of memories rushed back.
Chris...she'd been planning to come over for the summer. She didn't know...
Before I could get teary-eyed, I decided to ask a more reasonable question.
"What are you doing here? I thought you were at the Acadamy."

I cast a sidelong glance at the annoyed cowgirl, then turned back to Jamie.
"I was, but we got a summer break." I chuckled to myself. "My dad did quite a bit of yelling at the headmistress when he heard we weren't going to get one unless he did."

“Hey there buddy!” I called. He lifted his head and nickered. I smiled. “Whatcha doin today, huh?”
He snorted and pawed at the grass.
I shrugged. “Sorry, I forgot my earrings. Was that supposed to be a sarcastic ‘What does it look like I'm doing?’?”
He nodded vigorously.
“Well then!” I reached up and scratched his ear a little. “No need for sarcasm today, I brought you a treat!” I held out the apple, which he took gingerly from my open palm and crunched softly. I smiled. “Good boy.”
