Luke Nelson (jukilum) | 2 comments I believe it was something like the pollution solidified and buried everyone in the US. in the future they dig it up and make mostly off base assumptions about what everything is used for, including a toilet being a sort of alter for religious purposes. I probably read it between 2003-2006.

Anyone know what this book is? I'm not sure, but it might have been something along the lines of 'Discovering Usa,' though I am unsure and the book doesn't come up under the search with that title.

Was it a picture book for adults or children?

Deanna | 16 comments I think I remember the book you are talking about, But I can't remember the name of it - sorry! I'm pretty sure that I saw it earlier, maybe in the mid 90's. It had black and white line drawings.

Yeah, definitely Motel of Mysteries: here's the description of that book from Amazon:

"It is the year 4022; all of the ancient country of Usa has been buried under many feet of detritus from a catastrophe that occurred back in 1985.... Carson's incredible discoveries, including the remains of two bodies, one of then on a ceremonial bed facing an altar that appeared to be a means of communicating with the Gods and the other lying in a porcelain sarcophagus in the Inner Chamber"
