    Good but with problems. Thoughts?

I just finished World Without End. I quite liked it but I found that there was an almost distracting preoccupation with sex compared with Pillars of the Earth. Thoughts?

I read it quite a while ago, so I don't remember it that vividly. I do remember finding the endless string of bad luck and unfortunate events frustrating (not sure if that's really the right word). I did really enjoy the book, although not quite as much as 'Pillars.'

I agree with your point, Charlotte, that the majority of these scenes did not add to the story at all. It seemed that wherever Merthin went, he ran into beautiful and willing women. Although I quite liked the overall arc of the story, the never-ending sexual liaisons between all the characters seemed gimmicky and out of place. Follett is releasing a third book in the series later this year. Hopefully he will stick more to the things that make these books good and stay away from the distracting filler.
