The Mysterious Benedict Society question

This book talks about Mr.Benedict and Mr.Curtain being opposite of each other even though they have a lot in common ,for example ;Mr.Curtain has narcolepsy and so does his twin brother ,Mr.Benedict,but then Mr.Curtain was the villain in the story.Maybe Mr.Curtain was made to believe that control is the key by the people who raised him ,but the 1st book doesn´t mention who raised Mr.Curtain or why they made him try to control the whole world.
