As written in my sign Up post my goal for this RaT is at least 8 hopefully 10 books but it might go higher depending on how I do in the 24in48 challenge.I have to finish Black Powder War by Naomi Novik and Blood of Dragons by Robin Hobb before the 19th where I have to return them to the library.
As I have no got a car at the moment it actually means I have to finish them by Tuesday 1/17-17 as I am cycling to town on Wednesday anyway but would like not to have to do that Thursday. I have around 10 km to my library, so a 20 km round trip.
Week 1
Monday 1/16-17
Started reading Black Powder War by Naomi Novik but it was more difficult to get through than the previous books as it is more about the political aspects of war.
Tuesday 1/17-17
Finished Black Powder War by Naomi Novik and don't think I am going to continue this series.
Started reading Blood of Dragons by Robin Hobb but I didn't manage to finish it as it is quite long.
Wednesday 1/18-17
Finished Blood of Dragons by Robin Hobb and it was very good, I will definitely continue the Realms of the Elderlings series.
Now a bit later than planned I will be cycling to town to among other things return these two books to the library so I don't get a fine for keeping them too long.
I will also make a better list of books today, more sorted in when I need to finish them by)
Thursday 1/19-17
Finished Christmas Kisses and Cookies by Linda West.
The book I read today was of course not from my list but it popped up for a challenge and I decided just to read it right away.
Unfortunately not great, according to the blurb it was supposed to be funny but it was rather boring. The best thing about it was that it was only 218 pages!
Started One Magic Summer by Maggie Shayne and I was surprised (in a good way) that it was both about witches and a mystery. There has been some kind of mystery in some of her other books but this was also witches which I didn't expect.
Friday 1/20-17
Finished One Magic Summer by Maggie Shayne and I really liked it. This was the fifth book in the series and I will definitely read the last book as well.
Meant to start another book today but just never got around to it.
Saturday 1/21-17
Finished Trail of Dead by Melissa F. Olson
I haven't managed to read as much in the 24in48 challenge as I had hoped as I listened to Trail of Dead on audio all day. This meant that it took me just over 10 hours where it most likely would only have taken me 5-6 hours if I had been reading it.
I have also started In the Days of the Comet by H.G. Wells which I need for several challenges. That is hard going as it is quite boring so even though I have only got 29 pages left I will wait and finish it tomorrow when I'm not tired anymore.
Sunday 1/22-17
A lot of reading today and instead of just listening to my audio, I read a lot on my Kindle. I listen to my audible while out walking and while doing household chores. And later I finished my audible reading it on the Kindle.
I finally finished In the Days of the Comet by H.G. Wells which I didn't like.
My next book Message in a Bottle by Barrie Mahoney was not much better but at least it was a much easier read and shorter.
Luckily I finished the weekend with two good books. Storm by Kate Palmer and Hunter's Trail by Melissa F. Olson
I ended up reading for about 25 hours in the 24 in 48 Challenge.
Week 2
Monday 1/23-17
Not surprisingly after my marathon reading this weekend I have read nothing today.
Tuesday 1/24-17
Didn't read anything at all today. I need to start reading again as I have a few books that I need to read before the end of the month.
Wednesday 1/25-17
Right, started Valley of the Kings: The 18th Dynasty by Terrance Coffey today that I need to read for a challenge. I am not quite sure what I think of it.
Thursday 1/26-17
Finished Valley of the Kings: The 18th Dynasty by Terrance Coffey tonight. I have given it 3 stars but it is really only 2½ stars.
I'm not that fond of historical fiction and a book set in ancient Egypt was of course that.
Friday 1/27-17
Finished The Forevers: Book 1: The Iduna Project by Marjorie DeLuca. Another book that was okay but no more than that.
Saturday 1/28-17
Didn't really feel like reading today but at least got started on 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke
Sunday 1/29-17
Continued to read 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke but then I needed a book for a challenge right away and read All for Hope by Olivia Hardin which was an interesting romance.
I did manage to finish 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke before going to bed. Now I have to read Salem's Lot over the next two days as I need to finish it this month for a challenge.

Mid-Event CheckinI have managed to read a lot this week, also more than I expected.
I have read 9 books in total 2687 pages.
The week started with me having to read 2 books if I wanted to read them before I had to return them to the library.
Then I read another 2 shorter books by Friday.
But what has brought my reading up so high is my participation in the 24 in 48 Challenge over the weekend. I have been home alone with no disturbances and managed to read / listen to 5 books during the approximately 25 hours I was reading.

Wrap UpI managed to read 13 books in total. 5 of these over the weekend where I took part in the 24 in 48 challenge.
I had a few okay books, some good book and one just plain awful. Me and classics really don't match and when it was a sci-fi that had nothing science fiction about it, that didn't help.
Thanks to Michelle for hosting and I really enjoyed that the RaT was two weeks long.
Now I am looking forward to Spring into Horror.

A Winter's Respite Read-a-Thon 2017 January 16 - 29 hosted by Michelle.
I have taken part in this for several years and I will also do it this year. I hope to read at least 8 books these two weeks and hopefully 10. I am also contemplating taking part in the 24 in 48 which is during this Read-a-thon which will then most likely up my bookcount.
