~Look Down, You're Talking to Your Highness~[R]
I dont think I am either but most movies I've seen lately are forgetable and uninteresting. Even some recent Disney animated movies like Moana didnt interest me too much: |What's Coco?
Now you sound like my mom. She dislikes modern Disney because of Tangled and I'm getting sick of her bashing all the modern Disney movies just because they're modern. I pretty much had to tie her up to make her watch Frozen. A Pixar movie coming out in November about a young boy in Mexico who wants to become a musician, only to accidentally wind up in the World of the Dead and has to find a way out before he's forgotten forever by the living world.
I didnt say I dislike it. I enjoy the modern Disney movies ((even Frozen. What I hate is all the merchandising and when Let It Go was played all the time)). Moana to me didnt seem to change any but Maui did. It just didnt stick with me as much as others have. I did like it though. Ohhh that sounds cool!
Films thAt aren't part of major franchises or companies like the Disney Pixar animations, Marvel and Star Wars, etc that Ive seen are even more forgetable. So I guess I've lost a desire to actively watch movies because of that.
That's what my mom said when we first saw the trailer for Coco haha. She thinks it's going to look really beautiful since she finds traditional Mexican art to be really pretty and hopes the movie will find some way to use that. I found out the music is being written by the same team who wrote the songs for Frozen, which makes me a little excited for a the film since I actually do really like the songs to Frozen(and was one of the people who sung them constantly)
I don't know much about Mexican culture ((or any culture besides ours: p)] but I'd like to learnI dont even mind the SONGS from Frozen. I liked the In Summer one a lot
Its the fact Let It Go was everywhere all the time that annoyed me. It's a good song but I can only hear it so many times before going mad.
I was once on a bus full of high school girls who were watching Frozen. When Let It Go came on I listened to some 60's tunes by Credence Clearwater Revival. Quite groovy: p
Two years later I was on a bus full of high school girls who were watching Phantom of the Opera and High School Musical
I liked the chicken better. Couldn't remember it's its name so we called it Becky, likd the bird from Finding Dory
My food didn't taste very good...or maybe I'm just imagining things. I hope so...after my really bad stomach bug getting sick again is the LAST thing I need.
Sometimes in life I'm glad nobody here in the West really knows or cares much about my religion to insult my beliefs
Some people on this site was saying things about Islam I found disgusting, and it made me kinda glad nobody really talks about Buddhism in the West and says disgusting things about it
They were saying Islam was a really sexist and violent religion, and children shouldn't be taught that it's cool and normal. I mean, it IS a pretty violent religion....but there's also a bunch of Muslim people who aren't violent or crazy at all, they're just normal people.
There have been people from all religions who are violent and hateful. Doesn't mean tge religion itself is about violence. The only violent religions I can think of are like Mesoamerican pantheons with human sacrifice vut even then they only did it because they thought if they didnt, the world would end.
Also yay my journal has a hundred views now!! I don't know who all those crazy people are, or if they're just counting your, mine, and Sera's visits to this journal, but either way we should celebrate! Fifty more and I can move it to a new category!
Someone in the comment section said they want more books about Buddhism because it's not as sexist as Islam lol I wonder how that person sleeps at night
Maybe not AS sexist as Islam, but people do criticize it for being sexist a lot... Basically the goal of any Buddhist is to live a good, pure life and eventually reach Enlightenment. However, a lot of teachings say that women are unable to reach this because of how their bodies act naturally-due to things they can't control, they are automatically seen as being 'rotten' and thus unfit for being Enlightened unless they are reincarnated in their next life as a man. They are also seen as being more easily influenced by the bad side of life than a man is; such as sexual acts and jealousy.
Buddhism also says if you're a woman, then you were a man in a past life who did something horrible and thus came back as a woman in this life as a punishment.
However, there are a lot of Buddhist nuns, and a lot of those women have been working for years to make the religion more inclusive. They can't rewrite the teachings, per say, but they can make something of them and say 'well in this book, the teacher says anyone can reach Enlightenment if they follow this regardless of gender' Not to mention, the original Buddha, while saying women were to respect their husbands, he also said for husbands to in turn respect their wives, which was unheard of back then.
Even the Dalai Lama(who is kinda like our representative, to put it VERY simply) says he supports womens' rights and says women make natural leaders than men because they're more compassionate and emotional. He says it's entirely possible for the next Dalai Lama to be reincarnated as a woman.
Oh wow that is sexist. I'm glad leaders from these major religions are trying to stamp out intolerance and bigotry. Like the Pope and the Dalia. I'm not Catholic OR Buddhist and I respect them more than other leaders.
Lol yeah I actually really like our Dalai Lama. He visits my town constantly because we have a large Buddhist population and I used to know someone in school whose dad was friends with the Dalai Lama haha
I originally only became Buddhist to get back at my dad several years ago, but after a while I became more invested in the lifestyle and started to take it seriously, if you can believe it. I told him I wanted to change my religion and become Muslim, but he said that was a terrible idea since Muslim women have no rights. Since I was a dumb teenager at the time, I got upset and said this was America and I should be allowed to convert to whatever religion I wanted to, and so I instead said I was a Buddhist and left it at that.

Eh, I'll probably end up just going to see Coco unless they reschedule it. I don't really want to see it, but it'll make Mom happy.
