Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments I'm so glad I decided to watch Alderamin on the Sky, it's so good! I only have three episodes left but it keeps upping the anty. Once I'm done with it I'll probably review it on here.

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments What's it about?

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments It takes place in a steampunkish Kyrgyzstan which is owned by the Russian Empire. The main characters are all Kyrgyz nobility who are training in the military to fight any threats their country faces, usually from Russia or neighboring nations such as Kazakhstan. As the show goes on, however, it stops being all cheerful and patriotic and becomes very bleak as the teenagers start to realize how difficult actually going to war is-and all of the illness, death, and despair that comes with it, not just for the civilians, but for the soldiers too.

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments That's Cool!

Is it live action, a cartoon or an anime?

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments An anime lol.

The episode I saw the other night had vomiting in it!

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments Well it was because a girl's boyfriend had gotten extremely ill from one of those military diseases, and it was actually really sad.

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments That girl was actually my favorite character despite only appearing in a few episodes. She came from an impoverished family and was soon married off at a young age to a rich Russian family, but her husband died of illness during their honeymoon. Not wanting to go back home, the girl remained with that family, doing chores for them. It was there that she discovered her love for reading, and read frequently about other nations in the Russian Empire. She soon joined the military to get more money.

She was in one of the platoons who saw a lot of action in the mountains, and soon became very close with another boy there who wasn't in very good shape, and she helped him train and gave him half of her food and rations. They soon started dating and formed a relationship, but then the sickness spread through their troops...

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments Can't see spoilers rn >.<

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments Good, that's a sad spoiler :P

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments And in case you're wondering, women were allowed in the military in the Russian Empire. There was a stigma behind it that turned a lot of women away from it since men didn't want women to join the military, but many did. They were mainly noblewomen from all over the Empire, and several rose through the ranks to become super high-ranking Generals and Captains and Majors and whatnot. They were often given either bayonets or snipers to get the job done.

I loved their uniforms. They wore the typical military jacket, but instead of pants, they wore long skirts with tights and a petticoat underneath that they could easily move around in. They also wore boots, and many women cut their hair or wore it up in braids.

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments That's really cool!!

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments So I listened to the soundtrack for Dear Evan Hansen, since it won best musical of this year I figured it was really good.

But, in my opinion....it's not very good. I feel like the only reason why it won was because the main character has social anxiety, and that's it. The soundtrack wasn't very long, only about an hour, and many of the songs vastly overstayed their welcome by going on way too long, probably just to make the soundtrack last an hour.

Plus, they all sound way too....poppy. Like I could hear any of these songs on the radio today. And I feel like that's not a good thing for a musical that won the same award as things like Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera to do. Because those musicals, despite coming out in the 80's, are still timeless. People remember the songs from them because they're not pop-sounding songs. Even Hamilton, despite using rap-sounding songs, is still clever and interesting enough to last for years.

But I bet in ten years, people will forget about this musical. I don't care if it's got a socially-anxious main character, diversity shouldn't be the only reason why a musical wins. It's a MUSICAL, therefore it's got to have some good, memorable songs in it.

Really the only song from it that I liked was Waving Through a Window, but I still don't think that's a good reason for me to like it. Since all the other best musicals have a bunch of songs I love, not just one. I feel like this story and soundtrack would've been a lot better as a movie, not a play.

And now I await the angry comments from people saying 'i have no heart' or 'i just don't get it' or whatever.

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments WHat is Dear Evan Hansen?

Bet you weren't expecting that comment :p

Also i read that spoiler finally

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments Uh, a musical. It won the Tony Award for Best Musical of the Year for 2017. I thought that was obvious from my spill up there.

No it's sad! :P

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments i mean I figured it was but i meant what's it ABOUT? I've never heard of it :p

No i meant i FINALLY read the spoiler! i forgot to last night! >,< We didn't get home until like 8:30

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments Oh :P It's about a socially-anxious teenager named Evan Hansen who is told by his counselor to write letters to himself to calm himself down. Over the summer, he fell out of a tree and broke his arm, but his mom reassures him that maybe all his classmates will want to sign his cast. Evan writes a letter to himself about how cute this one girl is, but she's the sister of a tough kid-who signs Evan's cast since they both have no friends. However, he finds Evan's letter and becomes upset by his attraction, and commits suicide, and a teacher finds the letter in his pocket. Everyone automatically assumes Evan and the boy, Connor, were best friends because of both the letter and him signing Evan's cast. Evan decides to milk this for what it's worth, while also trying to preserve Connor's memory, as nobody else in school liked him either.

Well it's still a sad spoiler :P

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments That sounds...incredibly depressing. But sweet at the same time. About the end.

It is sad :p

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments It IS incredibly depressing. But at the same time, I feel like it was mainly written JUST to appeal to this generation instead of trying to be timeless.

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments The tagline of the musical is: #youwillbefound because that's one of the songs and the overall message of the story, and I do actually like the message; that everyone matters, even if they were unpopular or didn't do anything important or grand.

Yeah

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments I had plans to go swimming today instead of going to the library, but there weren't any towels for me to use! And you can't go to the pool if you don't have a towel! So I went to the library instead, even though I didn't really want to.

I'm thinking about trying again tomorrow or Wednesday.

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments THat stinks. They won't let you or do you mean common sense to not go without one?

Rgeardless i'm glad you're here. I'm sorry if that sounds selfish >.<

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments It's common sense.

I haven't gone swimming all summer, and I don't want this to be my first summer where I don't go swimming. I'm worried I'll forget how to swim if I don't go.

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments Yeah

THat wouldn't be good.

I never learned how to swim.

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments That's stupid, swimming is one of those things everyone should learn. I'm the only person in my family aside from my dad who knows how to swim, and I feel really pressured by that.

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments I'm hardly around bodies of water and when I am it's either the creek where swimming would be a dumb idea, or my grandma's where she makes us wear lifejackets. SO it's not something i can really practice i guess.

WHat do you mean you feel pressured?

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments Ewww, life-jackets. Reminds me of when I was like six or something and my Sunday School teacher invited me and three other kids to her house for a pool party. The kids were two or three years older than me, and already knew how to swim, so they got to wear these special belts to keep them afloat(her pool was super deep). Me, on the other hand, couldn't swim, so I got a giant inner-tube, giant water-wings, AND a life-jacket put on me. There was so much weighing down on me that I couldn't even swim, just aimlessly float around in the pool.

I hated that so much that whenever my stuff was taken off when I got out, I would jump right back into the pool with no protection, and then my teacher had to keep fishing me out since I'd thrash and kick around.

Thank you for bringing that up, not.

I just meant I feel really weird that I know how to swim and they don't.

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments SHe has a jet ski and boat so that's part of why we need them.

SOrry >.< I didn't know that.

Ohh that makes sense

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments Ohhh now THAT makes sense. I just thought you made you put them on in her own private pool.

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments My bad >.<

SHe lives by a lake and has her own dock and bar and everything.

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments I'm so jealous, I wish my grandma was that cool.

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments Hey if you come here I'll see if I can get her to let you come over :p

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments I can't go anywhere :P

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments One day you can :p

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments I can't go anywhere either *Shrugs*

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments I had cheese pizza for dinner!

And then I remembered why I shouldn't eat cheese pizza!!! :D

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments *Facepalms* This is why we can't have nice things :p

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments I decided not to go swimming today. It's not hot enough today, plus Mom wasn't awake to help me tie my swim-suit. I'll just go tomorrow when it's super hot and muggy. Mom will probably be annoyed but I don't care.

Although if GoodReads remains dead for the next few hours like it was over the weekend, then I'll just leave the library and go swimming.

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments I'm around! I can *try* to talk to you about stuff but I suck at conversation so no promises.

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments I didn't mean just you :P Over the weekend ALL of my RP groups were dead, not just UU. It seemed everyone on this website got Raptured or something.

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments *Shrugs* I dunno. I'm only active in a few of my many groups

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments I'm super tired today and I have no idea why...

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 16707 comments I really can't stand those people who see abusive relationships in media everywhere they look. I end up getting upset and distance myself from the product, only to have a reliable friend tell me there's nothing wrong in the product. People were just freaking out for no reason.

I also really can't stand it when people see abusive relationships as no big deal, or even worse, actually have ships in fandoms that are super abusive. I can't ship abusive ships. I can't read about fictional abusive relationships at all.

I want to say I'm triggered by them, but that's not really the correct word. I'm more...sickened by how people are treating them nowadays.

Even just typing all of this out is making me feel sick.

I'm also sick of people telling me that I can't be 'offended' or 'triggered' by abusive relationships since I have never truly experienced one. Like, what?????? I was IN an abusive relationship with my ex-boyfriend. He didn't rape me, he didn't hit me, he didn't do any of that. But that doesn't mean he wasn't abusive. I can't even talk about some of the things he made me do or say, they make me ill.

So anybody who still wants to think this way or say I have no experience with this needs to rot in a ditch for all eternity.

Hunter (Totally NOT a communist ☭) (codenameagentmcmuffin) | 8243 comments I'm not sure what you mean in that first paragraph >.<

I don't like abusive ships either. WHat's so popular about them?!

Yeah. nOt all abuse is physical. If he was controlling and dictated what you can and can't say or do that's abuse.
