It took me a while but I think I finally settled on some good names for my diseases, I know people would say stuff like 'name your typhoid fever mary' or 'name your cholera tchaikovsky' but anyone who knows me by now should know I'm not about doing what's expected
It took me a while but I think I finally settled on some good names for my diseases, I know people would say stuff like 'name your typhoid fever mary' or 'name your cholera tchaikovsky' but anyone who knows me by now should know I'm not about doing what's expectedThe names I decided on are:
Cholera is named Adam Mickiewicz who was a famous Polish poet who lived in Lithunian-owned lands of Belarus during the Russian Empire and became a famed poet and to this day is considered to be one of the most famous and influential poets in Polish history and culture. He traveled abroad a lot especially after numerous failed uprisings in Poland and mainly lived in Western Europe or Russia for most of his life, which greatly influenced his poems; at first they took inspiration from Belarusian folklore but as he was exposed to more cosmopolitan ideas in other parts of Europe his poetry adjusted to become more classical. He eventually got sick and died when visiting Constantinople in the Ottoman Empire and even to this day people debate what his true ethnicity was; Polish, Polish-Lithuanian, Belarusian, Lithuanian-Belarusian, Lithuanian, etc
Admittedly I was split between him or Juliette Recamier who was a very famous reader and salon-holder in France also renowned for her beauty, but seeing as how my first cholera was named after a woman I thought it'd be fair to name my new one after a man this time
Spanish Flu is named Jazeps Grosvalds who was a famed Latvian painter credited with bringing an entirely Latvian spin on post-modernism and impressionism in the late-1910's. He formed an avaunt-grade group of artists called Green Flower and was mainly inspired to paint scenes of daily soldier life that he saw while serving as a rifleman in WW1. He also painted Parisian and Oriental scenes but ultimately died of Spanish flu while on a trip to Paris in the 1920's
Typhoid Fever; I struggled with since there were a lot of good choices and originally I wanted to name it after Princess Elizabeth who was a cousin to the Romanov family but I wanted to be even more obscure than that so I finally settled on Lydia Zvereva who was the first woman to earn her pilot license in Russia. She performed in aerial shows and her and her husband operated a machine-parts factory in Riga even during the war. Obviously she died fairly young of the disease and there was an aerial show at her funeral in her honor
Smallpox is named Koken after Empress Koken a Japanese Empress and one of the very few. She only ruled for five years before her male cousin took over the throne. Her own rule was turbulent with several attempts made on her life and nowadays she's mainly remembered for supposedly having an affair with a Buddhist monk she said should become emperor alongside her; she also established a Buddhist temple and sponsored the Hyakumanto Darani which was one of the largest productions of printed work in ancient Japan
Black Death is named Helena Megale Komnene, not a lot of information is available on her but we do know she was Queen of Georgia back in the mid-1300's which is also when she died from a resurgence of the disease in that nation
The cholera I already had is named after Inessa Armand who was a mistress of Lenin and notable for being the first woman to have a state funeral and burial in the Red Square which was an extremely high honor unheard of for a woman at that time, even though she had French-English blood she was very involved in communism and Russian politics at the time
Almost all of them are named after girls but I swear I didn't do that on purpose. This took me way too long to do lol
Mom asked if she can have any of my germs and I said no way, I already named them and everything, they're fully mine now. Of course she didn't really seem super interested in hearing what I named them all despite asking me earlier

I told Mom this is the first time in a few years I haven't gotten sick with a cold or stomach flu because usually in the winter I'd get the cold and in summer I'd get the stomach flu but nothing happened and she said it's because I haven't gone to the library and my brothers don't go to school and I was legit kinda disgusted at that thought

I mean, that's likely why :P since your family has hardly had physical contact with people this year none of you have had a chance to get any sort of illnessfrom another person

Well back in February my brothers both got sick with really bad colds and I kept waiting for my turn to get sick since that's the time I get colds but I somehow didn't get sick and I still wonder about that. Mom kept being like 'what if they have coronavirus' and I was like 'i don't even think that disease is here in america yet'

It's my dream to give Wikipedia money just so they'll leave me alone, I hate feeling guilted into supporting them because I legit can't help them in any way

Mom had to cut my hair and even though it doesn't look that bad the worst part is that when it's super short like this it's really hard to wear a lot of things on your hair as a result, they just slip right out because there's not enough hair for them to 'grab' onto

I've been not very careful at keeping myself warm when I go out because it's only for a few minutes at a time, wearing barely any layers and I only realized that earlier when I went out and felt really cold and realized I was wearing a super loose, baggy shirt, a jacket, and then a coat, that was it on my top half. I'm so sensitive to cold and I guess lately I've just had a lazy attitude about everything, but that's still no excuse

You know you've lived in my town long enough when you see a bottle of fresh lemonade in the fridge and you instantly check to see if it's been pasteurized or not

Yes, I think it's illegal to not label them, that's why I was looking for the label on this bottle. It basically just says 'warning this product has not been pasteurized which means consumption could heighten your chance of getting diseases' or something along those lines

I saw the trailer for Fate and saw some people talking about it and no, oh no, it looks so bad, why, I was so looking forward to this, it had so much promise! I loved the idea of taking Winx Club and making it more mature and dark because in the first few seasons especially you could tell the creator wanted to go that route but couldn't because it was a kids' show so when I heard he was going to frontline this and direct and produce and everything I got so excited, it's what he wanted! I'd love a more mature take on the lore and the battles and seeing a more realistic version of their planets and making the romances more grown-up than just six or seven different takes on the 'prince charming' personality. But what is this? Why does it look so dull and boring? They're fairies, in the show the bright colours separate them from the witches which are meant to be darker and edgier! Why is everyone white aside from Aisha?! The creator said he originally did want to make the characters in the cartoon white, but then realized it's a fantasy world of his creation and thus they could look like however he wanted so he made Flora Hispanic, Musa Asian specifically Chinese, and Aisha African because he felt like every girl should have a fairy to look up to who looks like them. They are literally ruining the diversity! You want everyone to be diverse but the second you're handed diversity on a platter you take it away?! It looks like Bloom and Stella are lesbians which doesn't bother me because honestly if you were going to make anyone lesbians it should be those two, I mean I never saw any Winx Club girl as a lesbian but that scene in the first episode when Bloom first sees Stella and she's literally bathed in sunlight? Yeah. Even though I do like Stella/Brandon and Bloom/Sky, Stella/Brandon a bit more because of the whole princess/knight dynamic I can see why others would find them to be the more bland relationships so I don't mind Stella/Bloom. Unless that was just queerbaiting than screw right off. They completely removed Techna, why? She was the brains of the team! She was different-looking from the others because she came from a really futuristic planet and society so she was their tech guru and hacker. She was the one who figured everything out about different planets and enemies, without her the Winx Club would get in trouble constantly! I also liked how she was more tomboyish/androgynous in comparison to the other girly members of her team, and how her first transformation was a skintight body-suit and instead of having actual fairy-wings, she had a digital glider on her back she activated using her powers to fly around? How cool is that?! They also cut out Flora and replaced her with a white chubby girl with the same powers named Tierra. Why? For starters you lost your Hispanic character, and also Flora was the soft tender heart of the Winx Club. Everyone in the show always underestimate her because she loved pink, flowers, her room was always messy because it was a greenhouse, she was tender, but her powers were especially devastating because she eventually learned to control plants around her so she could tie enemies up and poison them. But no, she's gone. I don't want Tierra, I want Flora! I think they whitewashed Musa too, even though her Chinese heritage was a major part of her character and several episodes focused on her trying to come to terms with being a musician and making her father proud, who doesn't want her to be a musician. And what the hell are they even wearing?! The clothing in Winx Club was designed by actual fashion designers and is thus iconic for representing the early 2000's decade the show's most famous seasons aired in and yet everyone is dressed like a Puritan. Musa in purple? Seriously?! She's red! She's the punkish rockstar who loves colors like black and red. I thought she was Techna because Techna is purple! Bloom, the girl next door in a beanie and leather jacket like some kind of biker chick? Even though canonically she admires the fashion in the fairy-world and has the seasons go on slowly discards her tight modern clothing for more flowy fairy clothing? Aisha, the really active, always-on-her-feet chick in an ankle-long skirt and sweater-set? Excuse me? And why is she in blue, she's green because she's water(technically) Bloom is in blue! Stella, the super fashionable girl, never misses out on any new trend, loves designing fashion, dressed like it's the 50's? Why? The only 'Stella' thing about her is her jeweled headband. Their powers aren't like witch magic like the trailer shows, Bloom can't summon fire in her palms, not even in her fairy form, it's a lot more abstract than that. On that note, why is Aisha even here? She didn't become part of the group until the second season because she was tied to that season's villain. She was running away from his influence when she literally landed right in front of Bloom and Sky; they noticed how wounded and thin she was so they took her back to Alfea and Flora suggested they make her an official Winx Club member at the end of the season because they liked her company. I guess it's not super important but it makes me really wonder how they're going to do that plot point if they do make it to the second season.

I guess it's not super important but it makes me really wonder how they're going to do that plot point if they do make it to the second season. Overall, I am very disappointed. This looks dull, boring, and trying too hard. I can't believe the original creator said this was all okay. This is actively trying to erase everything he did to make a compelling, diverse, and unique(for the time) show for little girls! This is how you treat your fans in their twenties who you specifically said you're making this show for because you know they want a more mature Winx Club? The show itself certainly wasn't perfect, the second season was basically pointless, a lot of stuff dragged on, it ignored a lot of its own lore, the later seasons are especially infamous for leaning way too heavily into a childish demographic, but they knew what they were doing and what they wanted to be. I think I'll still give Fate a watch when it comes out of morbid curiosity, this was a teaser trailer after all so who knows, maybe the creator or someone else will fix all of these problems, maybe they genuinely make it really good, who knows, but as of right now, I have to say, if this is how you treat those older fans of yours, screw you. Do better. We all deserve so much better
And yes I was listening to the OST from the cartoon while writing this, what about it
I don't know anything about the show but I watched the trailer and a lot of people said that they don't seem to know who they show's intended audience is for. I saw some people comparing it to Twilight

I saw some people comparing it to TwilightOne comment said "With everything going on recently, Netflix really went - "we'll take out one char all together, whitewash/replace two WOC characters, that is what the fans want, and it'll be fine since we'll make one fat, and make sure to make her look as dumpy as possible because we'll dress her only in sacks.""
I don't really have much to say because again I never watched the cartoon but even *I* thought the trailer looked super boring and uninspired.
Basically what I said. I can't believe the creator of the original show thought this was okay when part of his original show was creating a fairy for every girl. Also no Techna means my favorite ship in that show won't even come intro fruition so shame on him even harder for that

Maybe he wasn't aware of their plans? I mean, Rick Riordan had no input on the PJO movies and the AVatar writers weren'[t involved in TLA

I sure hope that's what it is, I mean I can't see him being okay with taking out Flora and Musa like that. Since it's only a teaser trailer I hope he sees it and slams down hard on Netflix

So for Christmas Mom wanted to order me Snack-Crate which gives you snacks from all over the world every month; it's a new nation every month but for your first order you choose what nation you want, so I got Japan and it came today! I already ate a lot of the candy though, but I gave a lot of savory products to Mom because I don't like a lot of savory Japanese snacks. It had stuff like chocolate-covered peanuts, watermelon gummies, super sour gum, turtle-shaped gummies inspired by Ramune, strawberry/white-chocolate-cream KitKat and green tea KitKat, frozen Coke lemon, make your own gummy candy-apple, those weird corn-cones, grape Hi-Chew, tomato sticks, basically Japanese Doritos, they were chips meant to emulate tacos, a brown sugar bar, probably something else I'm forgetting, it was a surprise to get and was a lot of fun! It came with a paper saying what each snack was. I should've taken a picture of everything or something

So it's set in South Korea and there's this fighting tournament called "God of Highschool" where the strongest high schools compete, first as singles and then as teams of three. The winner gets one wish granted

It's a lot more mature than other shonen anime ((and a lot shorter)) but it's not the darkest anime I've ever seen.
 Yeah, it's a manhwa
Yeah, it's a manhwaWhy not? I mean it doesn't matter ultimately but I wonder why. I thought you liked action anime like MHA
Well I don't like the action stuff as much, I watch stuff like that for the characters because I like more character-oriented things

Ah. There's character stuff but the main focus is on the fightsLike, the main character, Jin, learned how to fight from his granddad who's gone missing so he wants to find him. And the girl on his team, Mira, is the last person on Earth to know a certain sword style and she's trying to find someone to pass on the knowledge to
I'm not sure if I'd like it then, I mean Bleach largely focused on fights and thus a ton of episodes bored me
