They keep trying to get me to go to illegal pirating websites but..no thanks I'd rather not break the law thank you very much!

Jackbox TV is soooooo much better. Especially Quiplash!!

Maybe I’m just more sensitive to it since a majority of the guys in my life were extremely emotionally repressed and it showed in negative ways. They either became very emotionally violent or sniveling wimps. My own dad was like that, for crying out loud.
So we shouldn’t, as girls, just spend time pushing guys down who legit need our help and emotional support. They’re not going to get it from other guys, usually. Boys can be fluffy and soft too

WHen I was younger I'd never play with my sister because I was told dolls were stupid and for girls. My brother always played with my sister and I thought it was weird.
But at the same time I didn't even like action figures, race cars, etc all that much. I liked *some* but it wasn't very fun for me.

But the advice wasn’t helpful for me at all. I know, it’s my fault for watching an advice video in the wrong medium. Maybe the problem was her advice for a lot of the points was extremely vague. The only point she went into a lot of detail over was the fourth point which was flipping your canvas. But obviously that is for drawing only, not fanfics. The other points were to step away from it for a few hours, which I do already, don’t judge it purely based on what others say about it, think of specific problems you want to work on and fix, and look at your older art and redraw it with again a clear idea of what you disliked about it and what you want to fix now that you’ve improved
I’m not sure how well some of that would work for a fanfic author since writing is a far more time-consuming and daunting task. Like a drawing, you just look at it. I do not have time to go through all my older fanfics, read through them all with a careful eye, and then rewrite them all once more but better. And I don’t think that’d matter much since I don’t think it’d help me anyway

Around January, we received a new project where we had to make a playlist for the book we were writing. Due to a weird stroke of luck, once our entire week was nothing but two-hour delays. I crunched on that week, doing nothing but working on that playlist. It was an easy project and I was determined to get at least a passing grade on it.
My time to present in class finally came. The point was to pick out three songs and describe why you picked them; what the song itself was about and its significance to the themes shown in the book. Then we chose which song we wished to play a brief snippet from. I picked my three. Our teacher was standing on the sidelines and was just staring at me. I assumed he wasn’t thinking anything good about me, but I didn’t care. I knew exactly how to own this. I talked about my first two songs. Then I talked about the last song; Demons by Imagine Dragons. I said the song fit the character to a T because he too is struggling with his own inner demons. He doesn’t know who to listen to or who will win out; etc. I wrote nearly a paragraph about it because it was something I related to at the time. Afterwards, I simply said I was going to play a snippet from Demons. I looked back over at my teacher briefly- and he was smiling. He rarely smiled for anyone. To see him smiling like that, for me, made me feel extremely proud. And to imagine what he thought of me then, to see this brilliant student of his finally rising from the ashes, reborn and all she needed was that push in the right direction. I never got a grade lower than a B after that moment.
To this day I still think about it; truly one of my proudest moments

Harry Potter fans: “Our movies aren’t very good, the characters don’t act how they’re supposed to!”
Maze Runner fans: “Haha that’s cute”
Eragon fans: “Hey, at least your adaptations follow the books! Ours didn’t even make an attempt!”
Percy Jackson fans: “Allow us to introduce ourselves,”

What's worse: PJ movies or The Last Airbender? :p

Or watch the Nostalgia Critic review :p that was infinitely better

The "got cholera?" mug is obviously for drinking dirty river water out of. Got cholera? You do now
This is an underrated comment

I suppose it bothered me because it’s not like I blindly love all of them just because they’re a musical adaptation; I’m willing to admit they have flaws. Some of them pick people who aren’t good singers, none of them use sets, the costumes and wigs can often look fake or over-the-top, some aren’t well-acted or well-written, many have forgettable and sometimes just terrible songs, and I suppose there is a certain weirdness factor to seeing people act like anime characters. Like I’m not a very big fan of the Diabolik Lovers musical because of how childishly they treated the source material, the songs were all forgettable, and the actors didn’t seem very interested in what they were doing; overall, the show seemed to be very rushed and poorly-planned.
But the main reason why I love them is because they all offer alternate takes on their source materials. Yes they still follow the plot, but the musicals allow you to see what would’ve happened if different characters met up at certain points or if characters who weren’t there for specific scenes got to be there, yet the writing is so seamless. The songs give you a different perspective into what the character is thinking and offer a new view on their circumstances. Sometimes they’re funnier than their source materials because they can get away with more types of specific jokes, or have material come easier to them because of the format. There’s a lot of obvious passion put in. The actors are oftentimes the original voice actors for those characters, and they do their research. They watch or play or read their source material throughly to make sure they nail their character’s mannerisms down to the most minute detail on-stage. Some of them are beloved by their creator and sometimes the source material’s creator is right along the planning process with them, writing the songs or doing the casting. Some of the acting is so perfect you believe that is the character right there on that stage, singing and performing their heart out.
No, they’re not perfect. But they’re clearly popular with a group of people and show no sign of stopping any time soon. I throughly believe the majority of anime should at least look into translating themselves into the medium as it’s a really amazing opportunity to bring a fresh new perspective to the source material for both old and new fans
