Our Internet came back on last night!
I'm literally cry-laughing at the horrible CGI from this one current anime. Like CGI in anime looks really strange anyway even when it's done really well, this literally looks like someone Photoshopped it in as some kind of joke. If I hadn't seen all of the reviews about it I would've believed that was what happened. There is no way someone in 2019 looked at that and said 'yes, that is exactly how that is supposed to look in our high-quality era of animation'
What anime?why do they even use CGI? I mean, they're already animating everything so why not keep it consistent?
Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's StrongestI've heard it's one of the worst summer anime this year because it was adapted very poorly and doesn't follow the manga or book at all, yet they keep adding in irrelevant things that don't mean anything.
This is an example of the CGI:
I suppose animators either use it as an easy-way out to prevent animating really complex things like spaceships, or draw attention to something that's supposed to move fluidly. Most CGI in anime I don't even pay much attention to because it blends in, but this...lol
They normally do cars in CG but you rarely see those in anime for.more than a few seconds
I finished reading Older Sister of the Forest with a Thousand Young over the summer. Unfortunately the author never finished it...right as it was getting good too. Now I'm reading...I think it's called A Painful Pleasure or something like that? It's about a guy who is blackmailed into being a popular girl's bondage slave to prevent her from revealing to everyone he's a pervert. Not a big fan of the character design for the main guy but at least he looks like a scrawny nerd, unlike literally every other guy in that scenario like the guy in Appetite who is a literal beefcake even though he's crippled and never exercised a day in his life. I'm hoping this one will be good. The chapters are surprisingly long for a manga.

It's just a headcanon of mine since I feel like the narrative treats Nagisa as being FtM. There was a post on Amino Apps that explained his mom's philosophy rather well in that regard too. Besides, he's far more trans than someone like Chihiro is. I just get upset because everyone insults me for that headcanon when everyone who thinks Chihiro is trans gets love and praise and attention
Obviously you don't have to think Nagisa is trans and that's alright lol Even I'm willing to admit that he likely isn't trans and his mom is just intended to be a crazy b*tch and he just looks girly, but....headcanons can be fun sometimes

I kinda wish those anime musicals were more popular. Even people in the anime community who love musicals so much they live and die by them don't like the anime musicals. I honestly think that's such a shame. Sure, I have problems with them too, but I love them too much to just stop watching. I really love how they can take the source material and put new spins on it by making characters interact whom you never would've thought of before but feel so natural due to the writing and acting. They show us a character's inner thoughts we may not have been able to see in the actual series, or expands on the feelings we do know about. With every revamp they get, they only get better and better. They can have bigger budgets to add in more songs, more characters, etc. And despite all they put in, a lot of times they can still provide a good retelling of the source material.
And the music! A lot of songs are pretty generic, I'll admit, but the few that aren't...I listen to them on their own again and again because they're just so good! Very beautiful in both lyrics and actual score. But they're not just my favourite because they're pretty, they also do what musicals should do-tell the story and show how a character is feeling through music.
Seriously, I wish these were more popular. And there's some animes I've seen that don't have musicals yet that totally should have musicals, they deserve them even! Like I'd love to see a musical version of Seraph of the End. Or Steins;Gate. How about Brother's Conflict? Code;Realize and Diabolik Lovers already got their musicals, so why not?
Only the Sailor Moon and Black Butler fandoms seem to love, respect, and appreciate their series' musicals, but nobody else really does. And it's such a shame since everyone is missing out on some great acting, beautiful music, and wonderful interpretations of the original work.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, but I'm getting really sick of my mom's elitist views on anime. I don't care if she's getting sick of the style, it's fair to say that she's been around the block a few times with anime and I can understand if she's been feeling a bit burnt-out. But she literally goes out of her way to insult every single show she sees, calling it 'bland' or 'tired' or 'uninspired' or 'boring'. She doesn't watch anything new and drops anything the very second it starts to introduce something she's seen before. I got annoyed at her because she started praising this new anime for having a plot-line she really loves and never sees in anime, and it finally came off hiatus and I asked if she wanted to watch the next episode, and she said she was done with it. She also stopped watching Demon Slayer even though she had nothing but praise for it.
I told her I didn't really mind a lot of anime and think a lot of them are really good, and she said I'm one of those people who just has a high tolerance for seeing the same thing over and over again and not really demanding to consume anything different, and I got really upset with her because that makes it sound like I watch literally every single boring or annoying thing that comes my way.
And whenever I tell her about new anime I'm watching, like one I'm watching started out super slow and it's pretty boring right now. I told her as such but said that I bet it'd get really exciting, since it's a rip-off of a game series that started out in a similar way. When I said it was boring, however, Mom just said: "Well, yeah, of course it's boring. Almost all anime are. I don't know what you were expecting,"
She says she only watches anime which are continuously ranked 'the best of the best' but she dislikes a lot of the ones listed because they feature tropes she doesn't like. So she has no originality and is snobby.
Like I said, I personally don't care, but I wish she'd just stop being so pompous about it and thinking she's better than me because she hates the very things she claims to love. She found an anime community on Reddit who have the same thoughts as her and I finally told her the other day the same thing she tells me whenever I try to complain to her about something: "Why don't you go talk about it on the Internet then?"
I don't know why, but I have a certain urge to write birthday one-shots in November for all of the Sagittariuses in my fandoms. Because we are underappreciated and ignored and looked-down upon. Anime characters who are of that trait often tend to be terrible characters who are ignored by either series fans or their own friends in their universe. I'll try to do as many as I can, but that's still up in the air since two series I am definitely going to write for feature three separate Sagittarius characters. And I want to treat everyone as their own person. I think it'll either be them celebrating their birthday or just simply doing what they do best or what they like to do because these people deserve to be spoiled! Screw the fans of their fandom, sure a lot are terrible people but they still deserve the very best!

No, even if were just a couple I'd still want to do it. A lot of the Sagittarius characters are people I have absolutely no idea how to even write!!! Because most of those characters do this stupid thing where they pretend to be somebody they're not, or act really emotionally distant and unconcerned about everything. I don't know how to write any of that!
An example you'd know; one is Gundham. I don't know how to write Gundham!!! I don't even like him that much. But it'd be unfair to the fandom to just ignore such a popular character when I'm going to do the other two Sagittarius, so I have to do him too....
Ugh why is my sign so stupid?
And there's also a few where I feel extremely neutral towards and am concerned that I'll write them as being really flat since I feel no particular strong way about them.

More that I'm likely forgetting, but if I come across any others in series I've watched/read then I'll add them to this part of the list. The absolute ones are the ones in fandoms I spend the most time in or feel the most attached to. Therefore, they receive first priority over everyone else. It had nothing to do with writing ability; a good chunk of those characters I cannot write for easily even if I love them.

Mom said she wants to try and expand her horizons when it comes to her artwork and thinks if she does so it'll make her a better artist, so now she wants to draw as much fanart as I want for any fanfic of mine that I've written. I think she knows it's a deep desire of mine to have that very thing done. I don't really trust her at the moment that she'll keep on that promise, so I'm testing her with drawing a picture for the final chapter of my Danganronpa harem fanfic. It's a simple enough one that I think she'll have no qualms with. If she really does succeed and gives me the picture, then I'll really start putting her to work. Luckily, she knows that, and I think she's genuinely serious about wanting to get better, so hopefully she'll keep her promise and I'll keep mine.

I told Mom that the trope name Unsettling Gender Reveal is a very misleading one since it’s actually used for when a character reveals their gender and it unsettles you since you thought they were the opposite gender for a long time, but everytime I see the name I keep thinking it’s for situations where a character’s gender gets revealed in a disturbing way
Mom sat me down and asked me why I didn't like a character in this anime she's making me watch when he's literally like a bunch of my other favourite characters and when I literally couldn't tell her, she said I have to learn how to articulate better why I like certain characters so other people can understand too. All I could tell her was that he was boring and I felt like I knew nothing about him yet the anime was trying to get me to care about his plight, and she kept pointing out that he seemed no different from other characters I like such as Yoichi and I felt really upset trying to put it into words when I literally couldn't figure it out myself. He's just a very boring character to me. We know nothing about him and something about him rubs me the wrong way. He's supposedly the kindest person in the world but all we see him doing that's nice is saving a bullied dog but literally anyone in the show would've done that. He likes to paint and that is literally all I know about him. He's barely been shown and nothing about him appealed to me. And that's the best way I can put it.
Me: "Damn, she sounds like a combination of everything I want in a character! If only she was a boy, then it'd be perfect!" Mom: "What's wrong with her being a girl? You don't like crazy candy-lickers?"
Me: "Not when they're girls,"
Mom: "But you love Junko!"
Me: "She's not a candy-licker!"
Mom left out a bowl of milk on the table and when I asked her what it was for she said ‘for any helpful fae,’ Should I be concerned or nah
