Me: “Wait, how did that happen?!”
Mom: “How does anyone get pregnant, Elizabeth?!”
Me: “That's not what I meant!”

Mom: *continues to watch anime anyway*
Mom: "You know, I think I'm done with anime for a while. All of it is really bland and boring. They never take risks or do anything new or different. Until I'm convinced they can do something else, I think I'm not going to be watching any more,"

And I've literally never felt so personally attacked by an article before in my entire life

1. I've legit looked at every single piece of official art for the character in question because I do want to be accurate, believe it or not. And even in pictures where girls who normally look to have small breasts actually have larger ones, hers still look small. Same with another character I've said the same about, but she's the sort of character who likely does have small breasts and stuffs to make herself look bigger.
2. In the case of the second girl I received the complain about, it is literally canon that her breasts are smaller than her sister's. That's one way you can tell them apart. They mention numerous times that her breasts are tiny while her sister has large ones and that's the first clue in the actual game that something is very wrong. I noticed the anime for one of the arcs retconned it and gave her really large breasts like her sister, which I frankly ignore because I think that ruins it. Especially since in the anime adapting the first game, she had tiny breasts. And I am going off the game purely for my fanfic, thus, everyone looks how they are presented in that.
3. I noticed the chapter that comment was posted on and that isn't even the first time the main character mentioned that girl having small breasts. He said it like twice before; one example I can think of off the top of my head is a way earlier chapter in the fanfic. Which means they either weren't paying much attention to the actual story or that one thing made them so upset they just couldn't continue until they announced that to me.
4. Why does it even matter in the first place? Those comments kinda bother me because I don't understand why that one detail is so specific. It literally does not matter in the grand scheme of things, especially in this fanfic.

I’m not going to add anything else to that because you can probably already imagine what my response to them was lol

Today is yet another typical job for me. After some editing of a recent article; not ready to be published yet but almost, I got dressed in my most unassuming beige turtleneck-dress, grey leggings, brown boots, and red headband and hurried to my next target with my camera at the ready. They were actually a group of idol twins who were famous for breaking into the industry a bit late, given the typical age of most pop stars these days. They created a unique identity for themselves by pretending to be superficial androids on-stage. I had no idea what they were like off-stage, but..maybe they were sweet.
As soon as their limo doors opened, fans and paparazzi alike swarmed in, all clamoring to get the best view of them. I held up my own camera and took a few anxious shots as well as I worked my way through the crowd. They parted; being a paparazzi member did have its perks sometimes. I figured the intense excitement today was because the elder twin had made an announcement a few weeks ago about wishing to spend the day with a random fan of theirs.
“OMG, go have a cow somewhere else!” A high-pitched voice shrieked, its owner stepping out of the limo fully with her hands on her hips. She was still dressed in her idol clothes; an electric-yellow and lime-green ballerina outfit with her nails and makeup perfect. Her bright yellow hair was pulled into pigtails and every inch of her just oozed confidence. “I gotta pick the lucky fan!” She waved some people away with that finely-manicured nail; the cameras backed off but the fans got closer. One of her bodyguards stepped closer as well. I took several shots in awe.
“Wouldn’t it be kinda funny if you picked a paparazzi member?” A masculine voice teased from inside the car. The elder twin put her finger on her lips thoughtfully, gazing around.
“Hm...it would be a change of pace. And those magazines would be all over it! Fine! I choose..!” She closed her eyes and threw her hand out, pointing straight at me. The crowd gasped collectively as I blinked my big brown eyes in surprise.
“H-Huh?” I slowly lowered the camera to see one of the bodyguards making a bee-line for me. She kept pointing proudly.
“Her! The plain-looking one!”
In a rush, the bodyguard helped me out of the crowd and gently sat me down in the limo, shutting the door. It was tight and reeked of old leather, nail polish, and root beer. My camera was still clutches tightly in my hands as I tried to take it all in.
“So, you got a name, plain girl?”
“Big Sis thinks she picked a good one,”
“Have I ever been wrong?”
“Well, she’s certainly a lot prettier than most other paparazzi, I’ll give her that,”
Their hands gently rubbed and caressed my face, slowly trailing down onto my shoulders. Her nails made me shiver.
“Um. I’m Natsumi,” I felt my face heat up. The limo slowly turned around a corner. The windows were tinted. Where were we going?
“Natsumi-oneesan, eh?”
“She’s older than you,”
“Still a pretty name. Like the summer,”
“Natsumi-chan. A very pretty name for a very pretty girl,” The twins all but purred as they nuzzled up close against me.
“We’re heading back to our house now. You totally are going to get the celeb treatment of your life!”
“Yes! It’ll be so much fun to have a girl around. Most of my fans I get to meet are male,”
“Most of the fans in that crowd were female,” I couldn’t help pointing out.
“All here for my brother! He is somehow more popular than I even though we do the same thing!” Yuna gasped.
Yes, Yuna and Hikaru were their names. Their stage-names; though despite how much digging I did for the job, I was never quite able to figure out their real ones aside from the last name of ‘Yamada’. It made sense though; to pick stage-names associated with light, given their android motif.
“Just think of all the juicy secrets you’ll get to dig up on us too, Natsumi-chan!” Yuna giggled. Hikaru remained silent for the time being, taking out his phone and tapping fervently on it. Some sort of game?
“Um...” This was all just another job and I had to treat it as such. “Such as...?”
Yuna just giggled again and gently ran her hand down my face, playing with my brown bob. “So impatient!”
The limo came to a sudden, jerky stop, and I gasped as my grip on the camera involuntarily tightened. The twins took no notice and eagerly jumped right out of the car, running inside the house.
And what a house it was indeed. Small, given that only two people likely lived there permanently, but it was that shade of gorgeous white only celebs could seem to afford, with four stories and a large balcony on the top. Huge windows displayed most of the house to any passerby, and even I myself got a full view of the twins settling in inside, trying to get themselves comfortable once more. I hanged my camera around my neck and went inside myself, enjoying the surprisingly limited decor choice.
“So, we should totally have a girls’ day!” Yuna suggested eagerly as I walked inside, taking my hands. “Did you know I am a master of nail art? I have a NicoNico and YouTube account both displaying my work and they all get three million views each!” She took a step back and wiggles her hands in front of me. “These are the ones I always do for the show,” Neon-yellow. “But you can pick whatever you want,”
I nodded at her rushed way of speaking. I wasn’t very familiar with the more musical celebs, but I did know about Yuna’s online presence. She was definitely far more famous in that area than her younger brother. I hadn’t really watched anything she had made though.
“Aww, no fair sis! Why are you hogging her?!” Hikaru gave a whine and stomped over to us, his hands on his hips. In the light, I could see their resemblance far better; near-identical, with yellow hair and green eyes and a futuristic sense of style on-stage.
“Because it’s been so long since I got to hang out with a girl!” Yuna whined back, gently tugging on my arm. “We were going to paint each other’s nails!”
“I wanted to play video games with her!” Hikaru got on my other side and yanked on that arm, making me gasp. They both wore heavy amounts of perfume that made my head spin.
“Y-You could just...share me...” I mentioned softly. “I...I don’t mind..”
The twins paused in their argument and stared at me curiously, almost as if they hadn’t ever considered that idea before. They very slowly let go of me.
“....How about you go order some food for us, sis?” Hikaru asked, regaining his composure. “I’ll go change,”
“It’s rude to change when there’s a guest over!” Yuna playfully scolded him as she ran up the stairs. Hikaru sat down on the couch and turned on his gaming system, tossing me a controller. I yelped in surprise and nearly dropped it; it was heavy in my hands. Hikaru chuckled.
“Guessing you don’t play much, huh?” He mused as I sat down next to him, my face hot. I shook my head shamefully. “That’s fine. You’re probably still better than sis. She likes to nag me for ‘not playing fair’. Ain’t my fault I’m good,” He started up his game and I relaxed a little when I noticed it was just a simple racing game. I could do that.
“The food will be ready in a few minutes,” Yuna announced as she walked downstairs in a grey tank top and black sweatpants. She sat down next to me and started to brush out her knee-long hair.
“Um...there’s one rumor I was always curious about,” I began, feeling bashful. It was not my place to repeat any rumors about them to their face, but...
They both looked at me curiously, awaiting the response.
“Are you...perhaps...a man, Yuna-san?” I swallowed after I asked it. Hikaru stared at me in annoyance while Yuna began to laugh.
“Again with that! Where does it even come from? Are men these days so truly threatened by a feminine woman that to slander her, they insist she is a man?” She laughed more and bounced in her seat as she pulled her hair up into a ponytail, revealing some very bouncy...parts. “Let’s do our nails after we eat, ‘kay? I’m also a genius with makeup. I can make you look so cute!”
The food ended up being a bottle of mineral water with an organic salad and trail mix for Yuna and a soda, bag of chips, and loaded-down burger for Hikaru. I just received a simple cheese sandwich with fries and green tea.
“Ew, are you really going to eat that junk?” Yuna turned up her nose at her brother’s meal. “So gross,” She stabbed some of her food with her fork. “Organic salads are my most fave thing to eat! I absolutely abhor junk food. Gotta watch my figure, you know?”
Before I could comment, she placed the food in my mouth; I chewed from instinct and swallowed. Bland...
“Now you have dressing on you!” She gasped and pulled me close, suddenly planting a kiss right on my lips. I heard a camera go off somewhere and randomly winced. She pulled away from me, a smirk on her own lips. “Got it...” She started to kiss me again before I felt my hand get pulled away and gently kissed by Hikaru.
“You got ketchup on your hands, Princess,” He commented, pulling me away from his sister. “Come on, don’t let Big Sis have all of the fun...” He gave me a gentle kiss as well; it was just as long as Yuna’s was before we finally pulled apart. I blinked, finding I had no appetite. The twins must’ve shared that same thought, as Hikaru pushed his plate away and continued playing on his phone, while Yuna made an effort to put her dishes in the dishwasher and came back over to me; makeup bag in hand.
“You’re going to post this all over the news tomorrow, right?” She pouted a bit as she combed mascara onto my lashes.
“I think someone already did..” I confessed.
“Hm. Well, whatever! Nothing for it now! Guess you’re now officially our star girlfriend! How do you like that, Natsumi-chan?”
I slowly opened my eyes and noticed a mirror placed in front of me. She must’ve meant the mascara, but I found myself nodding in agreement with another question.
“But you gotta start dressing the part! No more drab clothes when we’re on-stage together, ‘kay?” She put her hands on her hips, and Hikaru nodded in agreement. I found a smile forming on my face.
The next day, all the gossip panels screamed about the mysterious ‘plain’ camera-girl the twins were photographed kissing in a moment of calm. Some pieces together who it was, but most remained none the wiser. And I was fine with that. My job paid enough that I didn’t need to expose myself like that.
“Ready to go?” Yuna asked eagerly as her and Hikaru posed in their android outfits, ready to go on-stage. I nodded sweetly. I couldn’t sing or dance that well; but I still got a front-row seat and took the best shots of any paparazzi I knew. Even now I wore a black French maid dress with electric yellow motifs and a lime-green flower in my hair, complete with matching jewels and makeup and nails too of course.
“Great!”
“Take the best ones of us up there!”
“I want us to look so hot our fans will melt!”
“They melt all the time looking at us anyway!”
We all shared a laugh. Yuna gave me a kiss and a preppy wave before dashing off, Hikaru followed suit with the same routine. I kissed them both back and held up my camera, getting it at the ready. I felt a huge grin break out into my face. I loved them. I loved my energetic twin idols with all of my heart. I knew they felt the same about me too. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Me: 'honestly same'

Can confirm. There are references to past games but each and every one is entirely standalone.

The only people who were still left at the burial grounds were in the middle of leaving, giving Henry strange looks as he remained standing over the spot his mother's coffin was lowered into just a few hours prior. He stood over it, his tears dry, his black lacy gown chaffing and his lacy veil blowing into his face. He still remembered that horrified scream as his mother tried to regain her balance, and all of the blood that poured from her as she hit the floor from the top of the stairs.
"My lord, I think it's time for us to leave," Ms. Patricia warned him gently, placing her hand on his shoulder. She was a pretty brunette with freckles and brown eyes and a hint of Irish roots; her looks nicely contrasted with Henry's emerald eyes and curly light brown hair and fully-English blood. "Your father wants you home by a certain time,"
Henry gave her a vacant look. "Yes. Let us head home then. I mean...to our new home," He walked ahead of her towards the carriage, and she followed after slowly. She'd never admit it, but her charge had her concerned already. He was incredibly close to his mother and she knew her untimely death would likely seed something dangerous in him. It was a well-known fact of boys who lacked maternal influence in their life.
*
When they arrived at Baron Whitehall's manor, the mood became sullen and dark as Ms. Patricia was asked personally by the head maid to help the other servants unpack Henry's items while the preteen in question went alone to greet his father. Patricia nodded slowly; she was just a nanny but there was no reason why she couldn't help. She fell into the rhythm of another maid her age; a nineteen-year-old with black hair and sad eyes named Mary. "I'm very happy to have another female worker here," She smiled softly at Patricia.
"But surely there are plenty other maids here like you?" Patricia asked Mary in confusion.
"Maids, yes, but they are all far older than myself. I can never relate to them. To have another young lady like yourself here would be very good for me," A sad smile. Patricia gave her usual cheerful one back as they continued to work, their work only being interrupted by the butler coming in and informing her that her presence had been requested at the dinner table.
She nodded and hurriedly got dressed, pulling off her apron and slipping a purple brooch around her neck and putting her hair in a bun instead of braiding it. She was in morning already at he request of Henry, but knew the Baron likely wanted her to have some semblance of decency. She took her seat at the dinner table slowly, curtsying gracefully under the Baron's stern eyes.
"Big Sister! I'm so happy you decided to come!" Henry beamed eagerly, his food uneaten on his plate. Despite being in morning, he had changed into a knee-long pink gown with a matching bow in his hair. Patricia smiled at him. Since she had been his nanny since birth, he had taken to seeing her as his big sister in a sense as he had no other siblings.
"I wouldn't decline an order from you, my lord," She promised.
"Henry, you really must stop entertaining such childish fantasies," The Baron responded calmly as Patricia began eating. "You are my sole heir and I cannot have one who still trails behind his nanny in a daze. Nor can I have an heir who still dresses like a young girl. Under my roof, you will dress like a man, and act like one too. You are nearly thirteen, this behavior is unbecoming and quite disgusting,"
Henry said nothing, taking to stabbing the food on his plate in annoyance.
"In a few weeks, Patricia will be let go. I do not care how you go about it, but do it," Baron Whitehall continued.
"Sir, if I may give you some advice-" Patricia begun, only to flinch when he slammed his fist down on the table.
"No, you may not! You are just his nanny, a position that will not exist in this household come next month! Stay silent!" He barked.
She nodded meekly, keeping her attention trained on her plate. Henry stared at her in concern, his eyes wide.
"Henry, go to bed. I need you awake early for lessons," Baron Whitehall snapped at Henry, who nodded carefully.
"But-!"
"No arguments!"
He winced as a large streak of lighting flashed through the sky, but remained quiet. "Good night, Big Sister..." He mumbled under his breath as he stood up and quietly left the room, trembling. Patricia finished her own food and went to her own room, feeling unsteady as well.
She had heard Baron Whitehall was a strict and formal man, which was why his late wife opted to raise Henry solely on her own until he was of age, but she had no idea he was that cruel, especially to his own son. Henry did have a few....particularities, but what young lord didn't? She neither fussed over nor encouraged them, just letting them run their course, convinced they'd vanish once he was an older teenager.
Patricia finished buttoning up her nightgown, a thick and plain thing devoid of any decorations. She started to head over to shut her lamp off; jumping due to both a loud crash of thunder and urgent knocking at her door.
"Mary?" She called out in surprise, but the knocking came again. She hurried over and opened the door, gasping as Henry fell into her arms, dressed in a long frilly gown with a matching bonnet.
"Big Sister, the storm is terrifying! I...I can't sleep!" He sobbed.
"Does the baron know you're here?" She asked cautiously, relaxing and shutting the door when Henry shook his head.
"Please don't tell him..." He cried as Patricia sat him down on his bed.
"I wouldn't tell a soul, my lord!"
"Oh, thank you! I want to sleep here tonight! Please?" He begged, his wide eyes hopeful and full of tears.
"Of course," She smiled and let him hug her tightly, snuggling up closely to her. She placed a hand on his head. She still remembered his childhood; he didn't really start to notice her presence until he was about four or five, but remained close with her since. She still remembered the fluffy brown bear he carried around him constantly; now abandoned due to age, but his closest companion when he was younger. His curls were more noticeable and he always had a curious expression on his face, silently demanding to know where everyone was going and what they were doing. Even then, he wore dresses, fancier and flouncier and embroidered with small details lovingly by the late baroness. Even now, at twelve, he wore gowns despite being breeched years ago and still remained curious, his eyes widening whenever he tried to figure something out.
"Big Sister? What are you thinking of?" He asked curiously, blinking his eyes at her.
"Oh, just how cute you were as a child. You looked like a little doll," Patricia gave him a reassuring smile.
"Aw! Am I not cute anymore?" He pouted at her.
"No, you're still cute. But now you look more like a young man,"
"Ack, don't ever say that! Father's influence is rubbing off on you! I don't want to hear about being a young man! I'm not ready yet!" He cried. "I want to be a little doll again!"
Patricia stared at him levelly until he buried his face into her chest again.
"You can always be a little doll with me, my lord," She finally reassured him.
*
"You will be on laundry duty alongside Mary," The butler informed her the next morning after breakfast. Patricia looked up as he started to leave.
"Pardon me, sir, but normally I spend my day with the young lord, and right now, I should be helping him dress and break his fast," She informed him carefully, placing a hand on her chest.
"I am aware of that, Miss, however, I have received orders from his grace that you are to be put on domestic duties for the next few weeks until you are permanently retired. Nothing against you, but he told me that the young lord will not be needing the services of a nanny any longer," The butler responded, not looking back at her. "Unless you would prefer to take it up with his grace personally?"
Patricia shook her head rapidly, taking one of the baskets in her hands. "No, I am perfectly fine with this. Thank you," She curtsied and hurried after Mary, who smiled when Patricia joined her in the laundry room.
"Have you ever done laundry before?" Mary asked curiously, folding some linens up.
"Only the young lord's."
"Ah, so you already have some experience! That is good, I won't have to teach you very much!" Mary's gown was far different from Patricia's; wearing a starched black gown that covered everything up aside from the soles of her heavy boots, a full-body lacy white apron, and her hair in a tight braid. Patricia wore black, but her gown was thinner and the blouse was patterned with lace going up the front of it. Not to mention the aqua brooch she pinned there that morning and her small pearl studs to look presentable. She looked away awkwardly when she set the basket down, suddenly worrying that her clothes were too fancy for such a job.
The two worked steadily, Mary chatting away eagerly with Patricia. She found herself easily settling into the tasks given and Henry never once crossed her mind, instead, she started to amuse the thought of being Mary's friend.
After the day had ended, she came across Henry, wearing a low-cut emerald green ball gown the same colour as his eyes wit matching opera gloves. He gave her a small smile. "How was your first day away from me, Big Sister?"
"Oh! It...was not terrible. I think I made a friend with one of the maids here," Patricia exclaimed. "She's quite nice and helped me out a lot today,"
"What's her name?"
"Mary. I don't think you two will see much of each other,"
"I do not care about that, it's just...I'm going to be Baron of this house myself some day, you know? I must know the names of all my future staff so I can keep an eye on them better," He stepped closer to her, making Patricia gasp and blush a bit when she realized she had been backed into a wall in the hallway.
"Right, that makes sense, my lord,"
"Do you like my new gown? I managed to hide it away in my trunk, away from Father's perverted, prying eyes," He slowly licked one of his gloved fingers, using his teeth to pull the glove off.
"It...it really brings out your eyes, my lord," She breathed.
"Thank you! I was hoping for a response like that,"
"Good night," She nodded politely to him and dashed away, slamming her door shut and sitting with her back up against it. She placed a hand at her chest. She braced herself for a possible door-knock from Henry, but thankfully, it never came. She pulled herself off the floor after a few minutes and took a deep breath, preparing herself for bed.
*
Henry eyed himself in the mirror, frowning as he took in the suit that had newly arrived for him. It composed of a simple grey frilly blouse, a brown vest and trousers, white stockings, and grey shoes. The vest was tight on him and the pants couldn't be loosened properly. Dresses were tight too, but the suit was a different type of tight. He ran his hands down it. He couldn't even wear any accessories with it. The absolute audacity of that man.
"It fits you like a glove," Baron Whitehall praised, walking into his son's room. "Suits you too. There are several more coming later on in the week. Once they do, I will throw out all of your old dresses. There is no need for them anymore, I do not want to catch you wearing another one."
"Mother made me those gowns, you know," Henry responded curtly, starting to leave the room.
"What Bridget did does not matter. She is dead, and better for it. I see now she spoiled and coddled you too much, you and that nanny both!"
"Hmph," Henry left the room fully, determined to absorb himself in his lessons when one of the older maids ran to him in a panic.
"Oh, my lords, please come quickly! It's a maid, one of the younger ones...they found her drowned by the river! They think it's a suicide!"
"Oh no! Take me and Big Sister there at once!" Henry commanded, a serious look on his face.

Patrica gently laid some flowers on the makeshift grave they made for Mary; she had managed to convince the older maids and butler that she deserved one. She sighed a bit, glancing up at the sound of footsteps.
"It's quite sad, isn't it? She had so much to live for," Henry stared strangely at the grave. Patricia nodded.
"I just...I wonder what drove her to do it. I did not know her that well, but she always had such a sad look about her," She stood up and dusted herself off. "Now I shall never know,"
"She was just a maid, I don't understand why you cared so much for her," Henry grumbled. "You got along just fine at Mother's house,"
"I did...because it was just us three. Being here made me realize...I crave companionship. I am just a young woman, my lord," She gave him a determined look. "By the way, is that a new suit? I have not seen it on you before,"
"It is," Henry replied. It was a dull grey and green. Not the exciting kind of green that he loved, that matched his eyes, that Big Sister seemed to like. An ugly, dark green that looked like gross moss to him. "Come on, I believe Father wants to have a word with you," He led her back inside the house, up the stairs into his father's study. He remained there as Patricia curtsied formally in front of the man sitting down at his desk.
"You asked for me, your grace?" She kept her eyes down.
"Yes. I understand this may come as a sudden shock to you, but you knew it was coming and I thought it over long enough. Tonight, I want you gone. Please pack up your things and leave," He said sternly, making both her and Henry gasp.
"Please, sir, so soon? My friend offed herself just a day ago, please allow me a bit of time to recover-!" He stood up and walked over to her, making her step back.
"I do not understand why you must recover in my house. There is nothing left for you here. My son has outgrown your care."
"I...I have nowhere else to go. Sir, you must give me a list of references, and some money,"
"Did my wife give you nothing of the sort?"
"She was not thinking of letting me go, sir,"
"Do not talk back to me!" Baron Whitehall raised his hand and slapped Patricia across the face, making her fall.
"Ah!" She cried out, hitting the floor hard.
"Father! How dare you!" Henry scolded, trying to run over to her side before the baron blocked his path.
"How dare me? How dare you! You are my sole heir, yet you have refused to take responsibility for anything! You harbor feelings for that woman, don't you?" His father stared him down.
"I am just trying to help her up, Father! She is just a nanny, but she's cared for me far more than you ever have!"
"Go to your room, I will deal with you when I am done with her," The Baron seethed. Henry gave him a dirty look before he hurried off, leaving Patricia on the floor.
"I mean it. Get out. I want you gone by tomorrow morning. And if I find out you spoke to my son at any point during that time, I will do far worse than kick you out. Do you understand?" The Baron grabbed Patricia's chest, bringing her to his level. She nodded slowly. "What even is this, a brooch? Where did you get it?" He tugged on it.
"Please sir,"
"Did my son give you that as some sort of lover's token? Hm? Is that it?" He ripped it off her blouse, leaving several hanging strings. He threw her to the ground and tossed the brooch down in front of her. "Only someone who loves their nanny lustfully would give them such gifts,"
"I..I bought it. With some money the late baroness gave me-"
"Did I ask?" He brought his foot down and stomped on the brooch, making it crack and shatter. Patricia felt her eyes widen in horror.
"It was cheap regardless," He took another step towards her, but Patricia managed to sit up and scoot away a bit further. "Now, do I need to repeat my previous order?"
She shook her head fearfully.
"Do I?"
"No sir...I understand completely," She hanged her head and stood up slowly, giving him a weak curtsy before she walked out of the office. Once she was confident she was no longer being watched, she took off running, sobbing once she arrived in her room.
Being thrown out of the Baron Whitehall's manor...to go where? She had no references to use to get another job, and no money to speak of. Th only jewelry she still had on her person were her pearl stud earrings, but she was unsure of what price they'd even fetch, if anything. She tossed her few changes of clothing into her small bag and rubbed her eyes. Perhaps on some small level, the baron was correct. Henry was far too old for a nanny anyway, and she'd just distract him going forward. It was good that she was leaving now.
"Big Sister?" Henry asked curiously, peeking his head in her room. She shook her head at him.
"Please, my lord, please leave and go back to your room. If your father catches us together, even speaking, he will punish us greater," She folded her hands in front of her.
"He broke that brooch Mother bought you," He noticed in disdain. "I don't think he ever truly loved Mother, you know. They didn't even live together. I think he hated her,"
Patricia remained silent as Henry stepped closer.
"I don't think he's ever truly loved anyone in his life. Not his wife, and certainly not me. Haven't you seen the way he's treated me this week? He is an absolute and utter menace," He stood on his tiptoes. "That is why I came to see you, to give you something. I cannot bare the thought of my dear older sister all alone out there, starving on the streets!"
"My lord-" She started to protest as he slipped several necklaces and rings out of his pocket, all tangled-up together.
"They were Mother's. I often wore them with my gowns before, but you need them more than I do now," He started to carefully slide them into her bag. "Father burned all of my gowns anyhow. Can you believe that? Burned them and forced me to watch,"
"He...is an utterly despicable man," Patricia offered. She didn't wish to speak ill of a noble higher than her, but she was about to leave. And he had thrown her out with nothing! She felt as though her hate was justified. "Thank you, my lord, for caring so much. I hope whomever you take as a bride in the future will receive as much love and care as you showed to me," She grabbed her bag and offered him a smile. "Goodbye,"
"Wait!" Henry called out, stepping closer to her and standing on his tiptoes again. Before Patricia could properly react, he had pushed himself onto her and given her a passionate kiss. She felt her eyes widen in shock as he started to close his own. Not sure what else to do, she kissed him back, still stunned. He pulled back briefly. "No...Big Sister...silly..you're supposed to close your eyes when a man kisses you!" He smiled in a mischievous way as he started to kiss her again, wrapping his arms around her neck. She placed her own on his waist.
"What is going on in here!?" A gruff voice demanded hotly, and Patricia pulled away in horror to see the baron himself standing in the doorway of her room, glaring at her. "You temptress! Not only do you blatantly disobey my orders to leave tonight, but now I find that you have seduced my son as well?" He stepped closer.
"Sir, wait, I can explain-" He pushed the couple apart and pushed her into the wall.
"And you! My only son, actually fell for this she-devil's tricks? I had faith in you, but now...no. You have proven to me time and time again that you are unfit to be my heir. I was going to be kind and let your nanny off lightly, but not anymore." He started to reach into his sleeve.
"Father, please, you don't understand!" Henry started to beg, silencing when he witnessed his father pulling out a pistol and aiming it straight at Patricia. "Wait, no! Don't shoot her!"
"This will be the only way you will learn, I suppose. You love her so much, fine. Watch her die then!"
"Sir, please! This is too much!" Patricia cried as he placed his finger on the trigger.
"Leave this house forever, temptress! I will not have my son seduced by the likes of your kind ever again!" The baron declared. Patricia squeezed her eyes shut, terrified.
But the gunshot never came.
Instead, she briefly opened her eyes to witness both the gun and Baron Whitehall falling to the floor; the gun clattered loudly, the baron had a knife stuck into his back. Blood poured from his wound, and she remained silent as Henry walked over, yanking the knife out harshly from his father's back. Blood spurted out onto his face. He gave Patricia an off-it smile.
"Sorry that Father ended up being so disagreeable. I genuinely thought he'd let you leave without any fuss," He sighed dramatically, throwing the bloody knife to the floor with another clatter. "But I had to dispose of him myself. Such a shame..oh well," He got on his knees in front of her, smirking when she trembled in horror from the blood. "Now we can be together forever...exactly as I planned it to be," He kissed her.
"H-How...? How did you plan all of this..?" She swallowed back the title at the last second. He did not deserve her formality now.
"Silly girl, do you genuinely believe everything that happened here was mere coincidence? Little did you know...Mother planned to send you off to some silly etiquette school as a tutor. But she never considered my own feelings on the subject!" He sighed, smirking. "So...I killed her."
"Henry, darling, will you be a peach and go get my sewing kit from downstairs? I think I left it near the kitchen entrance," Bridget smiled sweetly at her son. "I need to finish that sweet yellow dress for you for the summer!"
"Yes, Mother," Henry nodded slowly and turned around, his green skirts swishing. "Does Big Sister really have to go..?"
"I know how much you care for her, but your father is a strict man. He would not approve of you still having one at your age," Bridget sighed, walking over to the stairs and giving her son a hug. "But it'll be better for her as well. She'll get to meet some friends her own age,"
Henry stiffened and felt his features darken as he wrestled out of his mother's grip, shoving her down the stairs.
"H-Heny-!" She cried out in shock as she stumbled, losing her balance further and hitting the ground. Henry smiled to himself as he saw the blood pouring from her.
"Big Sister is mine..."
*
"And your stupid maid friend?" Henry continued, ignoring the tears streaming down Patricia's face. "Killed her too. Why do you think I asked for her name? You really think I cared that much about her? Please!"
*
Henry stood at the banks of the river, smiling as he watched Mary struggle for breath just underneath the surface. Her skirts were too heavy, he made sure of that.
"P-Please, help me out...young lord!" She gasped in agony before suddenly slipping down further into the water.
"Big Sister is mine...only mine!" He cried out, stepping away from the water. She was always so sad...with any luck, they'd rule it as a suicide and never question anyone further. Perfect.
*
"Don't you see? Don't you understand? I did all of this for you! You can live with me together forever, and be happy!" Henry cried, burying his face in her chest again. "Why won't you be happy? Why aren't you happy?!"
"Henry..." Patricia managed to gasp out, feeling the blood soak into her clothes. "You...you are a very deranged boy, every inch the same as your father."
They were still embracing each other when the police found them later, covered in blood. They ruled it as a tag-team murder and hauled them away.

Patricia sighed as she handed a basket of treats to one of the guards at the correctional school Henry was forced to attend, giving him a nod. "It has some of his favourite desserts in there. Be sure he gets it," She placed a steadying hand on her heavy baby belly.
"Pardon me for being nosy, ma'am, but why do you care for him so much?" The guard questioned.
"Nobody else ever did," Was all she said.
